Thanks for the info. Timing belt done couple of months ago. Entire rear axel out and refurbished. Front is getting same treatment next week. Found the crack case pipe smashed. Venting to atmosphere. Turns out what I thought was a small leak was in fact crank case vent juice. No more (almost) oil on ground now. I'll be running studded tyres as my kids live in rural Sweden. Experience tells me all season tyres will leave me wanting in mid winter ice. Fine in snow. It's the sheet ice before the gritters get round they struggle with. I'll change the gearbox oil. I have to assume it's never been done. Just wary of changing to much and unsettling what is settled. I change the engine oil and filter every 5k. It only really gets driven on long trips. I think a few months of city driving would be the end of something. The clutch doesn't bite until the very last bit of pedal. I'm not going to do the clutch. It's been the same for 40k. 1500 miles and some rural Sweden on and off for a year is not going to move the dial. π€π»1 point

Speak to Audi direct. It will be GL4 or fully synthetic GL5. Takes about 2.3 litres, probably 75w-90. Always release the fill plug before releasing the drain plug. On the subject of bushings, any knocks or clunks, deal with them here. Usual suspects are upper arms, drop links and ARB bushings. Fit Meyle HD or Lemforder. Budget for a full set of winter tyres. Can recommend Kumho WinterCraft tyres. As recommended, change your antifreeze. Timing belt is due every 60k miles or 5 years. Include water pump, tensioner pulley and genuine thermostat. No fun braving a winter with a dodgy thermostat. Headlight conversion kit too.1 point

Hi - Prior to leaving my car in for a diagnostic check I emailed the MD of the Audi dealer expressing my concern over the issue as to how the hose had come off. Within the hour of my email he had the service manager ring me to say that they would stand over any charges for the check. Later when I collected the car I was told it appeared that during the previous spark plug change the hose had inadvertantly been left off but was now connected once more and a full diagnostic check along with some other standard checks on tyres, brakes and linings had shown no issues. There was no charge thankfully. I must say that although surprised at the ommision of the hose in the first place I was very impressed with both the MD'S prompt intervention but moreso the honesty of the company.1 point

Hi Mark our numbers are growing daily we were all affected by the same issue roughly at the same time itβs deffo an Audi issue not a fault of any transmission or individual vehicle.1 point

@Smithers01 good call. Happy to correlate and pass back to Audi on the back of the call I made earlier, if it helps.1 point

Update, I have found it and if you go in to Auto Hybrid there is an option to drop down a further option of holding the battery at a specific mileage level rather than at your current level so although itβs additional buttons to get there it is quite good you can pre-empt it to save charge for when going on long journeys.1 point

Ranjit. Everybody has an unrealistic expectation of his car's value, and believes it to be worth more than an insurer or a buyer will pay. I'd say Β£2330 is not an unfair valuation for a 21 year old car irrespective of how many thousands of pounds you may have spent on it.1 point

Scott. I am surprised you can not see the video as it still works for me, though I admit it is a bit shakey and hard to discern the detail. Incidentally Dave Mccraw has not returned to the forum since last September so he may not be seeing your request.1 point

The B8 used to have a sunglasses holder, trouble is they only fit the likes of Ray-Ban and not your average set of Oakleys. On the B9 I suppose you could get a felt pouch for where the charging point is, or better still - does your car have the storage compartment on the right-hand side. It's possible to retrofit.1 point

I think your expectations are too high Ravi. Translate that over to EBay,,and the Views are meaningless. Try LLL,Parts website and see if they can help. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

Not necessarily. 68 views does not mean 68 owners of the same model knowledgeable enough to identify a particular part number.1 point

Hi Everyone, a quick introduction here. In June I picked up a new A3 TFSI S Line Black Edition in Ascari blue. After a few minor quality issues I am now extremely happy with my purchase. Not going to bore everyone with the minute details but I had to deal with: 1. Loose number plate on the rear (Dealer fitted wrong clips) 2. Wrong puddle lights (no Audi rings) had to go back twice as they fitted exactly the same (incorrect lights) on the first visit 3. MMI software problems (settings not being saved) more on this in a separate post. We think we have solved the problem.1 point

All you need is a Torx 20 bit, a flat blade or trim removal tool and some brute force!! Top tip is to wind the window down to give you easier access when removing the door card First you need to remove the aluminium (or whatever colour) trim by the door handle using the flat blade to reveal the two hidden screws Back of removed trim so you can see the clips. Then undo the screw below the door handle. Next is to the flat blade at the bottom and start levering towards you. Once you can get your hands in simppy work your way around to the top. Don't be afraid to use a bit of brute force Pic of the back of the door card showing the various clips Then pull the door car up and start unclipping the plugs and door handle Top is the speaker cable Unclip the Yellow clip for the door handle cable Finally undo the connector that goes into the door control module at the bottom (bottom of the pic) Fitting is reversal of removal!! Clip the plugs and door handle cable back in Then lift the door card back onto the lip at the top; having the window down as far is goes makes this step a little easier! Put the screws in Tap the clips back into place Job done Hope this helps Rhys on Audi-sport.net1 point

It's odd how one can become attached to a particular brand. For thirty years I had a succession of Fords (Mk 2 Consul to Mk 3 Granada 2.9 Cosworth 24 valve,) until one day the love affair faded. Since then its all been downhill starting with worst car I have ever owned a BMW 325d, then an Audi A3, and now a Smart. Driving is no fun any more.0 points
