Allan without complicating matters, if you google (Audi Service Intervals,) all will become clear. hope this helps. Brian.
  3. Hi the thermostat housing is to the right hand side of the engine and has two smaller thermostats within it if it is a CN designated engine with the aluminium inlet manifold, its a sod to get to and normally requires the removal of the inlet manifold. Steve.

Hello Allan, ‘….why this should be?’ I think the answer might lie in the possibility the car is approaching 1 year old and (correctly for your mileage) your car must be set on an annual service schedule - unless you tell us it wasn’t registered early in the 74 sequence. Low annual mileages can take its strain on vehicles - hence the recommendation that those covering <10K a year, should have a basic annual service. You are not strictly restricted to getting this done at an Audi dealer, but parts used, must be Audi parts, and the servicing carried out at a VAT registered garage - ideally with a system to record this service on VAG’s data base. Otherwise - potential adverse affect on warranty. I think you will find that VAG’s labour rates may be approaching the £200/hr at some locations. Car on PCP? Regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello Mike, Yes alternator output should be around 14.5 v. Suggest you get it checked and expect a failed diode or similar. If it were mine, I would simply get yours repaired, since new alternators can be of rather poor quality. Low alternator output/ low battery voltage will result in the S/s system shutting down, so there is at least a positive here if this engineering averse system isn’t working! Regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello. I have had my car for 6 months now and I really have an comfort issue. No matter what I do I can not get a comfortable seating position and have come to the conclusion that it due to the head rest being angled too far forward. said head rest can be adjusted up and down but has no tilt. The head rest seems to push your head forward and gives a rounded back. Even over a short driveing time you can feel that your back and neck does not like this. A drive back from Wales last week gave me quite a headache. These seats are from the s-line model so I was wondering if anyone else has this issue with seat comfort or has a solution. I have not asked the manufacturer about this. many thanks -ad

Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂
  9. Wondering if you bought the car? I have the 2014 A6 C7 Allroad 245hp. Currently on 185,000miles. It’s the best car I’ve owned. Service it regularly, including transmission at 60k, using the recommended oil and you shouldn’t have any problems. I’ve had very few issues with mine apart from the usual wear and tear items like wheel bearings, CV joints. Replaced both rear airbags, £150 ea on eBay, no major issues. I bought mine 3yrs ago with full Audi service history and have it serviced every +/- 5000 miles. Passes MOT each year with no issues. I would definitely buy a newer one however it’s hard for me to justify as only use it 6 months per year.
  10. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
