  1. Hi,I'm new to this Audi messaging and i just want to let you know that changing the rear disc and pads on my Audi A3 Quattro was a bit challenging.. I just want to let you all know that taking off the rear caliper you will need a torx T30(made by lazer) and a breaker bar(15") 3/8 drive. I bought it all on ebay. It took me around a 1 hr each side. These torx bolts were very tight but they move with a bit of a perseverance...

Car purchased May 2025, numerous faults illuminated on dash Engine management ligh, hill hold assist. Car would only run on battery the other day until it cut out. 10 minutes standing turning off - on engine fired. Alarm goes off at random. Vehicle speeds up when in adaptive cruise when traffic is slowing. Burns excessive oil. Asked uk Audi to respond to Engine management light but they refused. Many owners with similar problems are using consumer act 2015 to return vehicles. I’ve given my formal rejection notice to reject the car.
  3. Hi folks, recently had a massive trawl through YouTube and found one of the worst horror stories I have ever come across, the company is called Vag Technic and they have done multiple videos on the V6 petrol engines fitted to the later RS4s and the Q7, it would appear that Q7s suffer with timing chain and cam gear failure due to the fact that the electronically controlled oil pressure on idle is so low it starves the gears of oil and causes premature wear and gear failure, the car concerned had 80k on the clock and was booked in to have the chains replaced as preventative maintenance quoted at £3000 and once inside the engine they discovered the cam gears were worn as well therefore they had to fit new cams only available from Audi at £4000 for both banks plus gaskets and seals, total £12,000 plus a remap for the oil pressure system which should make it last longer and the reason for the low oil pressure, yeah you got it, to cut down on the emissions as there is less friction caused by the oil pressure when idling, we then come to the RS4 of which they had two in both with the same problem, one had 60,000 on it and the other 26,000, the lower milage car had a scrap engine in the end and the higher milage they fixed, both had suffered cam follower failure except the lower milage engine had flipped a follower which jammed itself into the opposite side which held the valve open whilst beating the piston to death, hence the catastrophic failure, Audi apparently send vehicles like this to their company because no one wants to spend £25,000 up on a replacement engine which apparently will do the same thing again at some point soon, all third generation V6s fitted to VAG cars are suspect and depending on which model have built in failure points, therefore the lower milage car was apparently worth around £39,000 and as the guy doing the commentary said why would you buy something thats going to cost telephone numbers to repair sooner rather than later, if you are in the market for this type of engine I would seriously suggest this site as part of your in depth research. Steve.
  4. After some serious consideration Corsa, Punto, Polo and other boring little shoe boxes my 17 year old daughter decided her first car was going to be a 1999 Audi 80 Cabriolet 1.8 in Java Green. When buying it she knew it would need some love to keep it in good condition and running well. It's been to a local garage and received pads and discs on the front along with a repair to the exhaust. The mechanic noted the car is in great condition but does need some bits and pieces done. I have been finding it difficult to find these parts (listed below) and would like to hear from anyone who might be able to help Interior heater blower Heater resistor Steering stabilizer bracket Any trusted local Audi or classic car specialists in or near Ayrshire recommendations would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks
  5. I can easily believe the defect came about because of scrimping or negligence during development and testing. At one time I would not then have believed there could be a VAG conspiracy to cover it up, but since Dieselgate it seems anything is possible from such a despicable company.
  6. Hi Steve I test drove the Jeacoo and I felt it was exactly what I wanted. I was able to do a good deal with the dealer, got 2 years service contract, ceramic bodywork coating, car mats all round including a boot mat and a holdall full of goodies, complete with a fire extinguisher, which was a bit disconcerting. The dealer was amazing, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. They are definitely here to sell cars.
  7. Hi - I went for an INA pump and got from Partsinmotion via eBay.
  8. Wowsers, I'm convinced the manufacturers are doing all these things to deliberately cost the customer or write the car off. It's no hidden information the manufacturers make more money from parts and repairs than the car sales. If the governments cared about the environment they would legislate that cars should be simple to repair with the emphasis on manufacturers manufacturers providing parts and vehicle life of 30+ years. We know this won't happen due to greed and corruption.
  9. Just an update. Jeacoo going well, have now done 550 miles and it is averaging 60.5 mpg. I am getting 58 electric miles, even in this cold weather. It is an endearing car with lots of nice things about it, and of course there are things which are a bit, sort of err? But, all this car for £30k, 7 years warranty and the main dealer just around the corner, it's not at all bad. Tony
  10. Hi this is one of those not easy to diagnose without the following information, do you have any codes, how old is the battery?, explanation is it could be a low voltage fault if the battery is weak as the electric steering uses a fair amount of amps, it could be a corroded connector on the steering rack, not much to go on with no codes but working it back to your message on the dash it could well be battery related. Steve.
  11. It's worth hosing the underside and suspension in winter to remove the salt each time you wash the topside. Salt corrodes aluminium faster than steel.

  15. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones. p.s. Please avoid using non specific locations such as U.K., England etc. etc.
