  1. It's always extremely difficult to pursuade people that a battery can be defective when it still cranks the engine normally, and has a voltage of 12.4 at rest.
  2. World of difference between truck and an Audi which most models can be a right tart when it comes to voltage stability. Steve.
  3. 1 point
Safe side every four years or 80k whichever comes first. Steve.
  4. I left dealing with the warranty company to my garage. It's owned by a friend so I trust them. I was cc'd into all emails though, and the warranty company initially offered £153 towards the replacement. The garage pushed back and they settled on 50/50.
  5. Thought I would drop in and update. The rear screenwash is the plastic nozzle attached to the motor that has failed. Evidently somebody knew because the pipe was disconnected and blocked off. Bit annoying as the motor itself is fine, but the whole thing needs replacing. Warranty company have agreed to meet me half way. Very annoying as I could easily have 3D printed a new nozzle out ABS, but it's done now. I haven't solved the Radio Text thing yet. When the weather improves I'm going to try swapping the keyless entry sensors from handle to handle to see if that's the problem.
  6. Thanks for the reply Cliff. The Green Flag guys (2 of them) both seemed to think it was coolant on the engine. I told her that condensation under a car is normal if the air con compressor has been running. My sister collects the car tomorrow so I was going to have a look at the coolant level to see what it looks like. My Dad and I have found a couple of possible local independent VAG specialists but I just wondered if anyone had any experience of who might be trustworthy. It's not the first time she's had problems with Audi Birmingham.
  7. The knocking sound could be the DMF (dual mass flywheel) if you have one. They have a habit of disintegrating.
  8. Sorry I don't know as much as the other people here but, for what it's worth, I've found the choice of tires matters a lot too. I owned a BMW that came with run-flats and then changed to non-run-flats and noticed an immediate difference. When I put that car on winter tires, there was another significant improvement to comfort
  9. Yes, I bought a new battery and asked a colleague who has Obdeleven to register it, and all the communication problems disappeared.
  10. Can’t comment on the clutch, whoever had the car before could have been riding it. Regards misfires, a fuel injector on the way out could cause similar issues, such as combustion bypass or copper washer sealing has been compromised.
  11. I guess the clowns at Halfords/Kwikfit didn't test it properly. I shall not be recommending them again.
  12. Suspect door lock Colin, since this is where these things operate from - as Steve has said. Regards, Gareth.
  13. Is there a button switch on the door frame that is pushed in when the door is closed? Try pressing it in by hand to test it. Otherwise get a scan as Steve suggests.
  14. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. I'd suspect a faulty door sensor.
