  1. Having been through this with an old (2004) Allroad, we found the seal in the pump had worn, so, although it would pump the up, over a day or 2 it would drop down again, other possibility is there’s a hole/leak from the airlines somewhere but I’d suspect the pump seal is the culprit.
  2. Has anyone tried adding fog lights to an A6 C7 with Adaptive cruise? It’s just that the Radar sensors for the cruise control fill in the apertures where the Audi standard foglights would fit, so I’m wondering if anyones found some linear (long and thin!) LED lights that can fit in the slots to the inner sides of those apertures. I’ve had a quick measure and there’s a space about 140mm by 35mm to fit them in. Or has anyone got any other thoughts? cheers Dave
  3. Look for the build spec label, it’s in the spare wheel well in my 2015 Allroad, The codes you’re after start with ‘DD’ all below are for the V6 diesel variants. I have the 218ps (160KW ) engine, so the code is DD5 Others I’ve found are: DD1 - 221kw DD3 - 230Kw DD6 - 240 Kw DD7 - 190 Kw website is http://igorweb.org/equidec.aspx another useful site is: https://www.bezwypadkowy.net/media/kunena/attachments/63/audi-option-codes.pdf Hope this helps.
  4. Hi Sean, My v8 Allroad with the tiptronic box used to do this but in cold weather only. But, there is no clutch in a Tiptronic box, it uses a hydraulic ‘torque converter’, (also known as a slush box’) if it’s not providing drive then it’s possible the box needs to be refurbished, seals etc can degrade over time, there was also a filter in some of the early Tiptronic boxes that should have been changed along with the oil every 40k miles. (Not specified in Audi documents but every gearbox specialist recommends it. Lack of oil changes eventually damages the box. You didn’t say how many miles you’ve got on the car or if it was new or second hand when you bought it. If 2nd hand and the previous owners didn’t do the oil changes, that could explain things. It’s worth looking up online for an auto gearbox specialist, they’ll probably be more help than Audi (unless it’s under warranty. The Multitronic (multitragic as a lot of Audi techs say! Sums it up really) gearbox is entirely different to the Tiptronic box in that it’s a ‘CVT’, (Continuous Variable Transmission), using some sort of belt drive and opposing cones, one the driver (input) the other the driven (output) (similar to the Toyota/Lexus CVT’s) it’s just the software in the Audis that mimics the steps of conventional gearboxes. The DSG gearboxes use 2 electronically controlled clutches in an otherwise conventional gearbox. (Also known as a ‘clutch less manual’ as they have no clutch pedal and as far as the driver is concerned, is just an auto box. Hope you get it sorted. Dave
  5. I’ve since spoken to an Audi service centre. When they change your oil, they don’t use use (trust?) the MMI oil level sensor, they use a ‘special tool’ that they put into the dipstick tube to measure the oil level. in other words- they use a dipstick!
  6. I put approx 6.6 litres in, measured from the graduations on the oil cans. I took at least 7 litres out as it was well over the MMI max indication and about an inch above the ‘Max’ bobble on the dipstick before I changed the oil. as I have no idea when the built in oil level sensor was last calibrated ( suspect it was at build), then it’s about 6 years overdue for re-calibratation, as an engineer who used to deal with stuff like this everyday, I’d trust the volume that went in and the dipstick over an uncalibrated sensor every time.
  7. Helpfully, The owners handbook doesn’t give any capacity for oil. Just the ‘add 0.5 litres’ if the MMI says ‘add oil’. I got the 6.5 from other Audi forum posts.
  8. It’s a 2015 car, but as far as I know it’s meant to take 6.5 litres.
  9. I put in just over 6.5 litres, (there was a bit over 1.5 litres in one oil can) so it’s approx but def slightly more than 1.5.
  10. Ok, oil change finally done, couple of the T50 Torx bolts were seized, eventually used a chisel to get them turning. Oil level on dipstick is just above the ‘max’’ bobble, MMI shows about 1/3 up from min to max. I reckon I took at least 7 litres out.
  11. I’ve only recently got the car, FSH but the oil is very black so thought I’d change it anyway, got under there today to do it and found that 2 of the Torx bolts on the undertray are either T55 or T60, the other 2 were T50, got every size up to T50! So I had to drop it off the stands and go buy one of each of the bigger 2! Dark when I got back so either tomorrow or Thursday hopefully.
  12. Ok, dipstick I’d ordered from LLLParts duly arrived. Got the car on the flat, followed the owners manual to check level via MMI, just shows full. checked with the dipstick, shows about 0.5 to 1.0 litre above the ‘max’ mark (about 18-20mm ) so it seems I can’t trust the MMI, Seen an engine that had been badly overfilled, my mates car years ago, or rather what was left of the engine after most of the oil seals blew out, it lost all oil within a second or 2 and overheated very fast, he ground to a stop soon after, once cooled the engine was found to be totally seized. so not impressed that this system of Audi’s doesn’t have a ‘high oil level’ warning as well as the low level warning. It can be just as disastrous.
  13. Hi Simon, Hmm, thank you, def. food for thought! Best to hold off for now then. cheers
  14. Ok, it seems it’s worth asking at least then. cheers Dave
  15. Hi folks, Do the LED headlights give a better beam pattern/brighter/better than HID. Just wondering if it’s worth getting them retro-fitted. cheers Dave
  16. Ben, these guys can do it, but you may not like the price! I was quoted £5500 for an A6 Allroad. https://audi-retrofits.co.uk
  17. As far as I know, it’s an electric powered unit. But I know what you mean, I think Volvo use a fuel fired auxiliary heating system as well.
  18. Ah, hmm, VCDS tinkering possible although it was a lease car before I got hold of it. Its not a pre-heater though, like you get in an ev or phev. As you said, I believe it’s an auxiliary heater to provide heat while the engine comes up to temp. but many thanks for the link, it’s going to be useful.
  19. Always thought that only the options fitted to the car would appear in the MMI? Is there a list of Audi option codes anywhere? I have the build spec codes on the label, it should! be easy to find out?
  20. Hi folks, My mmi shows the option to ‘enable’ the auxiliary heater (tick box). However, There doesn’t seem to be any heat in the cabin until the engine warms up. im assuming of course that it’s meant to heat the cabin?so I’m thinking it’s not working? any thoughts cheers
  21. I’m looking to retrofit heated & ventilated front seats (current seats have neither) with a replacement climate control unit. I’m getting both functions in the new seats + new seat wiring looms & the control unit. what I need to do is find where all the additional supplies come from and where they terminate, either at the Seat connectors or climate unit. So I’m guessing about 20 or more pages having seen some of Audis ‘current flow’ diagrams. Which remind me of the trial wiring & function drawings the MoD experimented with in the mid late 70’s early 80’s, almost completely useless, often needing over a dozen drawings out at any one time to be able to trace just one circuit. Wasted far too many hours because of them. thank you for the kind offer of sending me copies but I think it’s probably too much hassle to ask you to do that. Dave
  22. Ah, doesn’t work on an iPad! PC is still busted, so guess that’s the next job!
  23. Thanks for that, I’ll look that up.
  24. Does anyone know where to get hold of wiring diagrams for the 2011-2018 model? Cheers Dave F
