  1. Thanks Chris, The brake hose is attached to the caliper, which detaches from the strut, so I can’t see you having to detach any hoes. Make sure you take the weight off the caliper not to stress the hose.
  2. Wondered how you are getting on with this now Chris.
  3. Do you mean 1 owner from new Chris, as Autotrader states?
  4. Welcome Chris, Ketan hasn’t been on here since June 2024. It’s probably best to try sending him a PM. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  5. This is a bit like pulling sore teeth Andrew. So you do have a handbook in the glove box then? I thought they had done away with them, but they are available to refer to on line. So you have referred to the glove box handbook, but it doesn’t mention anything at all about checking/ topping up engine oil. You learn something every day.
  6. Price please Richard - as opposed to offers?
  7. I have no doubt ‘they won’t rip you off’ price wise, but as you now know, there is an Audi price for an O.E. battery to Audi’s specification. Then there is the trusted local garage non-rip- off price, but we aren’t talking just price here, we are talking ‘quality’. It’s sounds like a ‘just leave it to them to choose’ situation, and that’s fine. I’m at a bit of a loss to think why you didn’t just take it to them in the first place, and not be too bothered with seeking advice on here - which has been comprehensive. Regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello Sean, You will need to send Den a PM, since he hasn’t been on the forum since the last post. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  9. Yet another member failing to answer questions which will possibly result in the thread being eligible for closing off. Open ended threads are tending to predominate.
  10. Having joined and posted, Alex has chosen not to respond, despite return to the forum. It seems to be season for them.
  11. Yet another post-and-run member wasting everyone’s time. Posted a plea and has never returned.
  12. This is all rather vague to me Andrew. ‘Knurled part ( I am familiar with that) about 1 to two inches long’. Biffs difference between 1 inch and 2 inches. Have you checked the on- line handbook for clarification?
  13. Let’s try to move this on, by winding it back a bit! If (in caps) the local garage has sufficiently sophisticated equipment to full access the efficiency of your battery, and declare it below par:- They are likely to fit a best-deal-to-them battery from the local motor factory, or, fingers crossed not one of a 3 letter chain under brand Lion, or the rebranded Starline ( or something like that). Like most other marques, modern cars are becoming more and more battery condition sensitive, so buy once and wisely - I suggest nothing with less than a four year warranty. What brands were you offered on line up to £150, and from which suppliers? Such information will likely be of help to others. You will see looking back on ‘Battery’ associated threads, that I currently favour Exide, and have bought from Tayna and other suppliers.
  14. So have you got min. and max marks? Sometimes Fill and Full.
  15. Many thanks Steve, Wonderful! We once had rust to kill off cars, then well beyond-the-need electronics, engineeringly averse stop/start systems. Now a milk carton’s worth of engine oil! Progress-?
  16. Hi Steve, It has been suggested to us that we should prompt and encourage non responding posters to respond before warning them - as a last resort. Guess we and other helpful members on here have nothing better to do! Regards, Gareth.
  17. Geoffrey, You posted your plea for help almost a week ago, and have simply not bothered to return to the forum to let us have the clarification asked for. Do you intend to do so?
  18. Hello Tim, Can see you returned to the forum yesterday, so any good reason why you can’t update us on the current situation?
  19. Hello Alex. Notice you returned to the forum about 19 hours ago, but we still await to hear what has happened since you posted almost 2 weeks ago.
  20. Hello Samantha, You are welcome to advertise it on here under ‘Cars for sale’. Include full details, a couple of photos and the price you want for it. Regards, Gareth.
  21. What brand of parts did he use?
  22. Hello Andrew, it’s probably me but I just can’t get my head around the stated fact that adding 300mls of oil raised the level from ‘only a drop on the end of the dipstick’ to ‘the full mark’. As I understand it, the volume difference from the min. to max. is usually 1 ltr. Regards, Gareth.
  23. Any answer Reece? Notice you have returned to the forum early evening.
  24. I wasn’t talking manufacturer’s warranty, but the warranty you get with garages fitting labour intensive parts, so you don’t have any redress if anything going pear shaped at any point. If you are happy to take the risk, then that fine.
  25. You can kiss good bye to any warranty if you pay cash.
