  1. Hello Mick, Peter hasn’t shown on here for over a year. Your best would be to send him a PM. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. So you cannot compare the prices of 245/40 with 225/40, since 225/40 is not an optional fit. You quite understandably need to compare 245/40 price with 225/45. It really is as simple as that. As you are finding, prices are influenced by volume manufacturing demands for sizes. Perhaps you could keep us.updated Marta.
  3. So have you tried the suggested LLL Parts route? ‘…don’t have the part in stock…’ - can we take it as what it says? They don’t have it in stock, as opposed to they cannot obtain it. I does seem rather surprising that Audi can or provide an alternator for an 11 year old model, but… Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. I think the two responses to date do not concur with your views Leighton, so from the two responses on here I cannot agree with your statement ‘..people don’t seem to have strong views’. ‘There is a privacy issue here…’ - exactly, the dealer deserves respect be paid their employee’s privacy - hence disconnecting a device that interferes with that right to their privacy. If I shared your contra opinion, and it was important to me to have that resolved, I would be writing to the dealer principal and asking for an in- writing response to your concern. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on, or if you decide not to follow that route. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Any update for us Gerry - ?
  6. Hell Simon, Have you found what you are looking following Steve pointing you to the threads?
  7. Can see you have revisited the forum. Any update for us Leighton?
  8. Hello Marta, Simple question first:- Is your cheaper 225/40 listed as a variant on the tyre pressure chat on the inside of the fuel flap, or wherever? If not, I would forget it. Fitting non standard tyres on the vehicle may invalidate your insurance in the event of a claim - if nothing else. The narrower width will of course reduce the rolling dia. of wheel + tyre, ( for the same profile) and could result in gearing issues etc. I could work out the difference for, but I guess you can do that yourself. If it were mine, I would be searching out the most competitive prices for the correct 245 width. Perhaps you can let us know how you get on with the best price Marta Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello Nick, I have now amended the thread title to include - No longer available’. Our thanks to Kev. for his understanding. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. There have been other threads on this Gordon. Worth s forum search. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Wondered what views you have Leighton, and how they compare with the responses you have. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. As far as I’m informed Steve, it is not permissible MOT wise to weld repair subframes. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Sarah, Welcome, and thanks for joining and posting your advert. Just to make you aware, we don’t do ‘offers’ on here, in preference to you stating the price you want for it, to save you and prospective buyers being messed around. If you are uncertain of a reasonable price, then look for similar examples on EBay and Autotrader. Obviously you will need to adjust the price down for a private sale, and to account for the damage, but its low mileage should enhance its appeal. I guess you are aware that a car doing so little mileage a year will need to be serviced annually to qualify for a claim of having ‘ full service history’. Just come back to us with a price you would accept. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Thanks Simon, You will find the search box at the top right hand corner of the screen. Just let us know if you are still in trouble. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Welcome Simon, Have you done a forum search on the topic? All will be revealed. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. No problem Joel, Doing a coolant flush is certainly going to introduce more air into the system. Changing the cap will eliminate that as a possible offender. Never carryout two changes at the same time. If you do, you won’t know which of the two was the culprit. Always change one thing and test. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Thanks Graham, The reason we ask where you have looked s to avoid suggesting where you have already searched. No other agenda or being unhelpful. Taking you don’t want to contribute to Audi’s coffers by buying new, so worth registering your want with on line breaker link systems such as Partsfinder ( there are others). EBay? - always worth looking of your model under ‘Breaking’ or similar, and enquiring, since sellers might not list all available parts. Chances of finding someone selling on on here? Remote, but worth the attempt you have made. Let us know how you get on Graham. Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Thanks Osman, I have used Brembo to good effect for family motoring driving style. I respect that others will have varying opinions and recommendations. I take it you will appreciate you will need to measure the current disc thickness, and evaluate whether they will still be within the minimum specified thickness at the end of your new pad life. Ideally renew them along with the pads. Well worth doing an EBay search for competitive prices from reputable sellers. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Osman. Kind regards, Gareth,
  19. Hello Cameron, There is no shortage of nonsense available on the internet, and perhaps a shortage of logical thought. As Steve says, if coolant is holding temperature. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Well done Iain, I have known surgeons who couldn’t change a light bulb, and Oxford graduates who can’t punctuate a sentence, but….. Great if you can. Perhaps could let us know your procedure before you start. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Thanks Osman, I think the first question to ask is would you describe your driving style as ‘enthusiastic’, and so above average ‘ brakes dependable’? Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Welcome Graham, Where have you searched so far? Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Hello Iain, Are you equipped tools and knowledge wise to correct these faults? Probably coolant temperature sender - possibly signalling incorrect mixture requirements to the ECU, and resulting in P130A.
  24. Seek out an independent with a good reputation.
