Agreed insurance valuation
Welcome Parmy, Is there something special about your 14 year old car that leads you to require Agreed Value on the policy? Is this your ‘daily driver’? Are you having a mileage restriction on the car?

Persistent issue with A/C
Many thanks, You should be OK with genuine Mahle. You will find there are a number of sellers linked to Autodoc. ‘Didn’t concern me that the shipping cost was £8’ You are not Welsh then! Just let us know when high shipping costs become something you can’t live with and we can suggest other places to try - if it helps. The no leaks found/ now leaking confuses, and I think you are wise to suggest rechecking the sensor fitting. Please let us know how you get on Xavier.

A6 Avant Ultra TDi wheel size change.
Blinking heck Colin, the detail is dribbling through like a dripping tap! As has been said, low profile (35) tyres will give you, and the car’s suspension, a hard ride/time. Are these 35 profile tyres XL or not? It’s now for the sake of asking again, but what was the profile on your 17 inch wheels, and were they XL or not?

Persistent issue with A/C
Welcome Xavier, Before moving on, what brand of sensor did you buy from Autodoc? Regards, Gareth. p.s. Any particular reason for buying from Autodoc with their delivery charges?

Intermittent Notchy/Stiff Steering
Welcome Nick, What you can do:- Take the car on a 20 mile run and drive it straight to Halfords (shop) and get the battery efficiency checked. I would get the alternator output checked at the same time. You could get yourself a can of WD40 ( put your fingers in your ears Cliff! ) and get an assistant to do turn the steering wheel from left to right with the engine running. Put you head under the bonnet - take great care with moving parts, and look for the steering shaft turning. Give the joint a good WD 40ing where it goes into the steering rack. Please let us know how you get off on both fronts. Regards, Gareth.

Where is best to advertise your car
Hello Sam, Potential buyers will search all the sites you have mentioned. You are of course very welcome to post it on here and I would suggest you include as much detail as possible, together with a couple of photos, and the price. Advertising on forums? Maybe too much of a generalisation, but forum members are mainly owners rather than potential owners, but worth a try. Have you tried EBay? As with all internet adverts, you are at the mercy of time wasters, but… WBAC will give you a bottom line sale price, and strangely I was talking to someone this morning who is about to use Motorway. They will give you a basic price, then put your car on a one day auction. You will then receive the highest bid, but you not obligated to accept it. Not sure (please check) but it might be free to list it. Please let us know whether you intend to advertise it on here or not. Regards, Gareth.

B200047 fault code
I don’t want to highjack Steve’s responses, but it would be useful to know how long the car was out of regular use getting the starting issue sorted, and how much regular use has it had since you have had it back - ? If it were mine, I wouldn’t be throwing any money at it at this stage, but I would take it on a good (minimum 20 mile) run and end up an Halfords store and ask them to measure the battery’s efficiency ( as Steve points out), and also the alternator output. If the battery is substandard, then I wouldn’t be buying a battery there if you have any respect for your wallet. Just come back to us at that stage and we can advise further. Regards, Gareth.

B200047 fault code
Welcome Carl, When you say the car wouldn’t start, do you mean the car would crank over (energetically?) but would not start, or it just wouldn’t crank over? Regards, Gareth.

Starter motor/Poly belt/Parasitic drain
Images of the scales are too in distinct to offer any advice. Really didn’t expect the earth to make any difference to the drain. Reserve judgement until, you have removed the alternator plug and checked if the battery still runs down overnight. If that doesn’t sort it, I would seriously recommend you seek the assistance of a trusted local electrician. You really don’t want to be playing with the electrics on these unless you are experienced in doing so.

A6 Avant Ultra TDi wheel size change.
Hello Colin, Let’s get back to basics and ask:- What was the tyre size on your original 17 inch wheels? What is the tyre size on the 20 inch wheels?

Slow warm up, even in 30 degrees ambient
Somewhat evasive response! Perhaps I shouldn’t comment on the following, but… ‘..submit …for testing …..rule yes or know’ Um, know for no. ‘Doesn’t cost you…..as your our customer…’ Um, your for you are. Anyway…. Why don’t these people simply state ‘ we used Brand x, and we will now be using Brand Y? Regards, Gareth.

Digital oil level issues?

Genuine Audi TT Sline/TTS 20" Inch Alloy Wheel With Tyre
Hello Ross, Although you are very welcome to advertise this on here, I feel the forum has to emphasise to interested parties that the tyre and wheel are damaged, and that professional advice should be sought re. suitability and safety for road use before actual use. Regards, Gareth.

Slow warm up, even in 30 degrees ambient
So they will be fitting another brand this time - not ‘an OE equivalent’ but now the ‘same quality as the original’! OK, if it were mine, I would ask them to list the make of the latest one on the work sheet. 2 year warranty on this latest one and starting from now?

Slow warm up, even in 30 degrees ambient
Hello Marc, ‘….probably fitting the same type again… ‘ If so, then the risk of the same end result may well remain. Why not dip into your pocket and get one (and the rubber seal) from Audi, and ask your garage to fit that. If you do suffer any issues after that, you can then eliminate the thermostat as the culprit. Regards, Gareth.

Considering buying a new A3, what are the weak points.
This forum doesn’t have any issue with your user name either, but it does have certain standards in relation to actual names, and my personal view is that by changing it from ‘D’ to ‘&’ is simply an attempt to be clever and to extract the urine - impolite! I’ll refrain from further comments about your posts and wish you, and those you deal with at the dealer, good luck with your purchase. There we are then!
