  1. Thanks Pauline, When you say you have taken out a 2 year service plan ( with Audi main dealer), can we take it that is for a service contract and does/doesn’t include warranty cover? How many services do you get for that during the 2 years, and at what mileage intervals? At what intervals (mileage) has the car been serviced at Audi over the last 4 years? Regards, Gareth.
  2. Thanks Allan, Wondering if 8mm ID fuel hose might do - make sure it's S.A.E J30 R9 ( the R9 higher pressure rating is important ). I understand the well respected Gates now do a braided version, so well worth searching that out. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  3. Hello Pauline, When you say ‘Audi garage have been good…’ would I be correct in thinking the car has been serviced/ repaired by an Audi main dealer during your ownership? If so, you would have been paying far over the odds, to maintain this now 8 year old vehicle, and its long overdue to find either a trusted local independent, or local garage to maintain it from here on in. What mileage has it now covered, and what is your typical annual mileage? Regards, Gareth.
  4. It is getting increasingly difficult to help you Gerry. Any reason why you can’t post a copy of what you have?
  5. Um. Not an adjective I would associate with a classic car club.
  6. ‘Evangelical’ Spartacus!?
  7. Welcome Reg, and thanks for joining. To save you buying components in the hope the fault lies with them, have you tried measuring the voltage ( and earth continuity) at suspected components? That would be my plan of action - if it helps. Regards, Gareth.
  8. What is the ID of the pipe Richard? Regards, Gareth.
  9. Yes, they do lock automatically if the doors or boot aren’t opened, following the car being opened with the fob. No, it should not lock if the key is in the ignition.
  10. So all we now need to know is exactly what has been replaced at the various services and when.
  11. Any particular reason you are not telling us the current mileage then? This will dictate the work necessary from here on, so unless you do, you aren’t going to get sensible suggestions for going forward. Print out not showing work carried out? Usually highly abbreviated but generally there. Just post a photo and we should be able to help.
  12. You didn’t let us know what tyre brands are currently fitted Frank. Have you checked the listed noise rating on them? How much tread is left, since tyres generally get noisier as they wear? You really do need to give us all the information- problem and what you have already done to try to solve it, otherwise we will end up suggesting you do what you have already done - again. Regards, Gareth.
  13. Please let us have the answers to the questions asked, so we can help you further. Using trusted local garage??
  14. Sorry Richard, I have no idea what you are talking about. Regards, Gareth. p.s. You aren’t Gerald off Clarkson’s Farm are you? Think he’s from your neck of the woods.
  15. Welcome Dermot, thanks for joining, and sorry to hear of your issue. Please allow me to be direct:- it doesn’t matter if anyone else has had this issue - you have, and it’s unacceptable! To me, the all important thing is that you have everything written down as a record, including phone calls and responses. Not meaning to be personal, but is there any degree of finance involved with this car? If so, you would be wise to notify them in writing of this issue, and state that you will be rejecting the vehicle if not correctly fixed by ‘x’ date. Obviously copy the dealer and Audi Customer Services. Please keep us updated Dermot, and let us know if we can help further. Regards, Gareth.
  16. Hello Charles, If this were mine, I would be seeking advice on your air suspension issue from BagpipingAndy ( obviously up your neck of the woods). He is the guru on these systems, and may well have come across this before with this model. You will find him on EBay. Try searching ‘air suspension compressor piston ring’ or similar. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  17. Thanks Gerry, Current mileage and mileages at which it’s been serviced during its 8 years? Who will you be entrusting the servicing to? At only 5k/a, if were mine, it would be having it serviced every year, since low mileages can be hard on a vehicle. We cover about the same miles a year with our A3 - now on 176K, and if it helps, I can outline what I do annually. “Inspection interval”? Maybe, whoever serviced it last didn’t reset the system-? Maybe due a brake fluid change if this coincides with the car’s anniversary of first registration? Regards, Gareth.
  18. Hello Gerry, No service book - all records will be digital for services carried out by authorised service agencies. Or receipts. Service intervals? Either annual if mileage is less than c1K/a, or Longlife which could equate to c18k miles or 18 months. Are you looking for evidence of previous history, or wanting to know what you have to do from here in? If you could let us have your anticipated annual mileage, and the current mileage, then we should be able to advise further. Regards, Gareth. p.s. brake fluid change every 2 or 3 years. Belt/s? Current recommendation is highly questionable in my book.
  19. Audi dealer Simon? Size? Can we take it you don’t have one as an example? Regards, Gareth.
  20. Welcome Carrie and thanks for joining. Do you have a multi-meter to check for voltage on permanently live, or ignition- fed live fuses - whichever is recommended by the manufacturer? Connecting spade connector to bodywork? This suggests it’s an earth connector, but again check with the instructions/ manufacturer. If it is an earth, then it’s strange that it has a spade connector rather than a connector with a hole in it which can be bolted to the bodywork via. an accessible small bolt. Regards, Garet.
  21. So it’s no longer ride quality that dissatisfies you, but road noise. What tyre brands and types do you currently have fitted? You may find that changing wheel sizes may not give you significantly less road noise, due to the the inherent likely-less insulation on the A1.
  22. Welcome Alan. Could you please post a photo of the hose, and measure its internal diameter. Regards, Gareth.
  23. Thank you for coming back on this Ants.
  24. Please note, the reason given for warning this poster is not ‘ Not responding to posts’ (apologies - system error) but for unacceptably disrespectful comments. Incidentally, ‘Your’ should be written as ‘you are’. There we go, you’ve learned something new today!
