Oil level sensor fault
Welcome ? ( could you please amend your profile to your proper name). Fundemental question:- Is the oil level actually low and the sensors are reading correctly? Regards, Gareth.

Oil on the boot floor mat
Hello Will, I maybe out of date with this, but hoods used to be operated by an oil filled compressor, so under those conditions, oil in that area could indicate a failed hose or connector. If this still is the same then it’s unlikely the hood would operate even if you tried it. Worth having a look in your handbook to find the method ( special tool?) of manually operating the hood. Having said that, it’s probably best left closed in terms of access to the offending part. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

Apologies for jumping in Cliff and Alex, but ‘……I really like the look of the car.’. Dangerous territory is that! Falling in love with a vehicle often leads to disappointment. Regards, Gareth.

Valuation
And his bone fides? Adequate to convince an insurance company to accept his valuation - if they want to business at that valuation?

Valuation
Thanks Nicholas, ‘I’ve got a valuation on Monday..’ so does that mean you had a written valuation from ? last Monday, or if you have an appointment to get that written valuation on Monday coming? ‘….spoke to them today…’. Who did you speak to? - Valuation authority or some insurance company? Regards, Gareth.

Good morning Ben, and sorry to hear of your discontents. When you say ‘dealership’, I guess you are not talking main dealer here, since it’s highly unlikely that any main dealer would retail a 12 year old vehicle. What sort of/ size used car sales did you buy it from? Bearing in mind its age, it might be considered to be somewhat unreasonable to expect it to be free from faults, but should be fit for purpose. Have you e-mailed the seller and listed the faults you have found, and want corrected? Realistically, the longer the list, the more time it is going to take them to ‘sort them’, and you may find it will significantly eat into your 30 day rejection limit, so beware. Smoke? What colour is this? Kind regards, Gareth.

Valuation
Try Peter James Insurance, but they too will probably need a professional valuation due to your insured value. Apologies, but I don’t think the forum can assist you with this, since no one will have access to the vehicle, leave alone the experience to certify your valuation. I would suggest approaching some of the large classic auctioneers and seek advice there. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

Car Mats
Mike, Yes I have bought from them before - about 15? years ago. I think the grade then was Premium or similar. I had them for a non-Audi, and judging by the quality of the genuine Audi ones I have in the Audi, they are streets ahead. I had black with bespoke red stitching and they are still doing great service in a next generation non-Audi. I guess you may pay almost as much as genuine Audi, but I got a lot better quality for my money. They used to do sample qualities. I found its worth paying for quality. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

Crankshaft gone!!!! Need advice…
Obviously you are free to stay or not stay. I’m sorry you found my factual comments to be snidie - that was not my intention. My intention was to simply amplify the protocol on here. It would seem that now you are fully knowledgeable of those facts, it’s difficult to work out why you would want to leave the forum, but if indeed that is what you want to do, then I would like to wish you a successful outcome to your situation. Regards, Gareth.

Crankshaft gone!!!! Need advice…
I have now had a PM from Abigail stating that she didn’t realise that her real first name would be shown on the forum, and with current knowledge, has changed her name to a supposedly fictitious ‘Vic’. I have explained that we depend on those joining and requesting help from our members, to at least introduce themselves by their real name, as one would expect if approached by a stranger asking for help. I have asked her to consider reverting to Abigail on a principle of good form. This together with a current reluctance to update the forum, leads me to seriously considering whether to spend my time responding further to this thread. Regards, Gareth.

Is it my confusion when addressing you as Abigail, when you now seem to be Vic?

Temp gauge stays around 50 after timing belt job
No problem Daniel, Sorry, don’t know on a Q5 but hopefully someone on here will be along. Well worth checking on the part cost first. You can do that via. entering your registration number into, say - Parts in Motion website - and that will come up with a variety of brands. I would buy on quality, not price. Regards, Gareth.

No lights on dash and no start.
Hello Mark, Your additional detail now paints a different picture, and points to the need of explaining the full story from the outset. Comments:- I wouldn’t have bought a Napa battery for these battery-sensitive vehicles, but that’s a personal view, based on experience of simply buying best quality at most competitive price. Battery needs to be coded ASAP to minimise the risk of toasting it, if not already done so. Hazard lights flashing ( I guess when not switched on?) points to alarm issues. ‘Wetvac’ on floors and seats and ‘…soaking wet’. The moulded carpet has a water resistant backing, so surface wetness should not have got through to any under-carpet electrics, but obviously we cannot quantify your ‘soaking wet’. It could well be a contributor to your issue, but it could be a coincidence. Lifting carpet ( after vacuuming as much moisture as possible) would be the only way to check. Engine starting and cutting out a few seconds later, points to immobiliser issues, but many of your codes can point to a below par battery. Recharging the battery maybe a no cost interesting trial. Please let us know how you get on.

Is that ‘rebuild’ recorded on the VAG database? I would move forward on the basis of no evidence, no fact! Regards, Gareth.
