Audi A1 Cold start
Thanks Ivo, Sorry, but I’m getting a bit lost on your interpretation of ‘Cold start’ - and your dissatisfaction with it - whatever ‘it’ is. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi A1 Cold start
Welcome Ivo, Are you saying it is difficult to start from cold? If so, does the starter turn the engine over enthusiastically? I would not be too concerned about a lack of increase in revs at cold start, until we have answers to the above. When was the car last serviced? Kind regards, Gareth.

obsolete part TT 2001 1.8 Quattro
Thanks Steve, Now you get the logic then. The suffix letters are issued in alphabetical order as (possibly minor) changes take place around the same basic part. Alternative suffix letter to G might fit, but… If it were mine, I would want to look at the part and determine exactly what is wrong with it, and being plastic, if it can be repaired, before committing to acquiring expensive parts. Kind regards, Gareth.

dashcam disconnected whilst being serviced
Welcome Leighton from the Homeland, I think Cliff has a fair point, otherwise it would be difficult to justify why you would want it to be connected while in their workshop - unless you don’t trust them. If that is the case, then you would be better off searching for an alternative trusted garage - such as an independent. I think many people would need some convincing about the benefit of having a 6 year old car serviced at a main dealer, unless you have some out of manufacturer’ warranty that ties you into doing that. Kind regards, Gareth.

ALTERNATOR PART NUMBER
Welcome Gerry, and thanks for joining. We take it you are not investing in a genuine Audi one then! You may find your number against the VIN on LLL Parts website. Of course, Audi and TPS would have the answer but… What is wrong with yours Gerry that leads you to need a ‘Made in China’ new one? Why not get yours repaired at a localish specialist? Where did you intend to get your replacement from? Kind regards, Gareth.

obsolete part TT 2001 1.8 Quattro
Thanks Steve, I does help if you let us know where you have tried and failed so far, to minimise the risk of us advising you to look where you have already searched. Can you provide a photo of the offending part? Can you get derivatives of the part with the same number but a later prefix letter to G? Kind regards, Gareth.

S3 propshaft query
Welcome Scott and thanks for joining, Is it the propshaft joint which is showing wear? If so, try Parts in Motion at Exeter. You are likely to get a good branded joint there, such as Febi. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

Gear box malfunction wearing light (Red) after flywheel….
Hello ? ( could you please amend your name to its actual - if not possible, please let us know and we will arrange for Admin. to do it for us). Anyway, this is likely to sound pessimistic and dismissive, but I really don’t think anyone on here can be expected to diagnose the cause of your current issue, without access to the vehicle. If this were mine, I would be returning to the dealer who carried out the work, without delay, and getting them to re-examine it. Did you settle the (expensive?) bill by debit or credit card. Kind regards, Gareth.

Blinking heck Tracy. Might be worth trying your local dealer, with apologies for not using them. Kind regards, Gareth.

‘Fancy’ (potential trouble facility) MMI. What on earth was wrong with just pressing a button if you wanted to switch the HRW on, without ticks on screen?

rear window heater stopped working for last 2 days
Hell James, Check for fractured wires in flexible harness twixt body and tailgate. Always aggravated by low temperatures affecting flexibility of wires. If these are OK, you need to look for breaks in the element - having tested you have 12volts at the connector onto the element. Kind regards, Gareth. Kind regards, Gareth.

Sorry Dan, always dealt with him through EBay and messages. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Wiper motor
Thanks Graeme, Don’t ignore the possibility of was working/isn’t working being due to a partially fractured wire within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate. Well worth an elimination check. Kind regards, Gareth.

It seems the OP did return to view Ian’s post of 5th Feb. but did not respond. Could be worth sending him a PM. Kind regards, Gareth.

temp guage
Thanks David, I would replace only one of the two mentioned parts at one time, and test, otherwise you won’t know which one was the culprit. Think sender is the easiest of the two, so I would be trying that first. Let us know how you get on David. Kind regards, Gareth.

Wiper motor
Thanks Graeme, Possibly a daft question to which I don’t know the answer:- Do these motors need coding to the car? Kind regards, Gareth.
