  1. I think your best bet is to read lots of reviews in Autotrader and the like. Only you can decide what factors are important to you, and what you can afford.
  2. You mean he fitted the wrong battery. Not all battery chemistries are equal: nicad, lithium (several types), silver oxide, etc. have different voltages and capacities. Unfortunately you can not rely on the brand name either to distinguish them, it has to be the right type.
  3. Are you considering petrol, diesel, or hybrid Martin? What engine size would suit you? What is your typical journey length?
  4. True, but that would not cause a thumping sound.
  5. Martin. I have hidden your reply in the Forum Etiquette topic as it is irrelevant there. Please pose any further questions here.
  6. I suggest you find a mechanic who knows what he is talking about because your friend clearly does not.
  7. Making the engine more powerful is not going to protect the clutch. I suggest you research the matter of tuning your engine before making a decision, because more power puts more strain on every part of the engine and transmission, reducing their life expectancy and reliability.
  8. Martin. Your topic was published on Wednesday 16 minutes after you became a member. Perhaps your question was too vague for anybody to offer a sensible opinion.
  9. Possibly one of the engine/gearbox mounting rubbers is defective.
  10. Nicole. Rizmah has not returned to the forum for two years. You would do well to start your own topic.
  11. A further correction to the title for clarity. It is now "Dipped beam fault".
  12. Done. New topic title is "Headlight lenses".
  13. Someone was pulling your leg. You'd be better served by having the car tested by an electrician
  14. What has the screen wash got to do with the heater fan?
  15. He has not returned to the forum since 24th February.
  16. Your choices are: an Audi main dealer, an independant VAG specialist, or a gearbox specialist. I generally prefer the second option.
  17. Automatic gearboxes have clutches nowadays and one of them, (it will have two,) is possibly slipping. Get it tested on a decent code reader such as VCDS for more insight.
  18. Perhaps there is a free car attached.
  19. The same problem gets the same advice as above: get the steering and suspension examined.
  20. Boot battery? Are you implying this is a hybrid drive system which also has a 48 volt starter/generator and battery? If that's the case all bets are off. Please confirm your power unit.
  21. That is often caused by rust on the discs, especially if you washed the car with a hose before parking it. If so, firm application of the brakes a few times should clear it. If that does not solve the noise it would be worth inspecting the brake calipers and pads for seizure.
  22. Lyn. I recall a similar report a couple of years ago, but do not have time to find it. You may be able to by searching the forums.
  23. I think it means you have to pay Audi a subscription for access to the map data. It's a nasty trick by car makers to screw more cash from the customer.
  24. Not all models had the silica bag, but doesn't mean the matrix is not blocked by something else such as sediment or an air lock. Nor have we eliminated the flap motors in the air ducts, which as Richard mentioned, are best test tested with a decent code reader.
