Thanks Steve, I've learnt something new. When I had mine changed I only had 2 working out of the 6.
As you know the service interval it makes me wonder if it's been missed, and if so what else has been missed.
They're lovely cars. It'll be either 130 or 163bp.
Check service history on when gearbox was last serviced as this is the Achilles heal in the mechanicals. Looks to be se spec. But if you contact Audi they should be able to provide you a build sheet.

It makes me wonder if the waring springs have been fitted at some point or of poor quality which is why you've got issues. But even with front measurements they're not even either.
I'd recommend you get a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. It could be an issue with the maf sensor, injector, injector seal, cam position sensor.
Further research:
Pun engine code was fitted to the 2.0tdi.
Gearbox fitted with 3.0tdi was the oa3 gearbox which has two other codes:
JHM kit (.56) uses 01E311362D and 01E311160D.
The JMG transmission part numbers 0A3311352B and 0A2311362F which yield a .53 ratio. These JMG gears are less than half the price of the .56 gears.
