  1. Took the car on a longish journey recently, about 15 minutes in I noticed the engine temp wasn't going above 60. It was early hours and freezing cold, so assumed that it was ambient temperature plus not driving far or fast at that point. Turned the heaters on and got no warm air and another 30 minutes later still no rise in engine temp. Thought it might be an air lock in the cooling system, so pulled over at a services, checked coolant & oil levels (both Ok). Bled the coolant lines (from the plastic screw near the windscreen), fluid came out almost straight away. Rest of the journey there and back no change in engine temp and no heat from the blowers. Got home, swapped the coolant temp sensor as that seemed the next likely culprit. Noticed that the coolant level had dropped from Max to Min, so topped up and bled again, some air came out, but again, not a lot. Started the car and left it to idle on the drive, with an occasional blip of the throttle. After a few minutes the temp started rising, got to about 80-90, so I assumed all was good. Car sat for a couple weeks, took it out last night and once again, no warm air and temp gauge sat at 50-60. Checked the rad and hoses, both are getting warm then hot as the engine runs, so assuming that coolant is actually circulating. Oil level hasn't dropped and engine is hot after being driven, so think that side of things is ok. Noticed that there does seem to be a little coolant leaking from the bottom radiator hose. Not sure if it's original, but it's definitely far from new - neither hoses or radiator have been changed in the 11 years I've had the car and up till now there's never been an issue. I'm wondering if the hose has perished and is letting air in, causing a semi permanent air leak / lock. So replacing them is the next job, except, I can't seem to find anywhere online to buy replacements - Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier. I have the OE part numbers, but searching online either yields "Discontinued" from Audi, or hoses from other sources (such as AutoDoc) that match the part number, but look nothing like what's under the bonnet. Lastly, if it turns out not to be hoses, what should I look for next? I'm assuming the water pump is working as I can feel coolant moving through the hoses and it comes out the bleed screw. I'm reasonably sure the block is ok as it had a strip and rebuild over lockdown and hasn't done more than 1000 miles since, so would welcome any advice or suggestions. TIA
  2. Saying goodbye to this classic car as we have not been using it much. This car is ideal for someone who would continue taking care it and improve it as it still has many years to serve a car lover. It's family owned, passed down from father to son. It's a 30-year old beauty, mainly driven by father and brother around London, hence low mileage and 3 owners (including us). The car was bought new by father. Service history is partial as he was bad at keeping documents! The car has a modern radio (no original radio). It has marks on bodywork, but mechanically it's been checked and has had work done. It drives and starts fine. The interior is fabric and needs a clean. Engine size 2309cc. It's convertible, but the roof is put down manually. The roof is in good condition, although reproofing is needed and a small tear needs to be patched. Car reg K2LGW. Currently has a valid MOT. Located in Earlsfield, London. Open to offers. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have further questions on 07475091685! 🙂
  3. Is it possible to remove both front headrests to install new ones if current ones are looking worn
  4. Hi, my boyfriends rear window has shattered on his A3 Cabriolet and we are having difficulty in finding someone to repair. Has anyone had this happen? And could offer some advice? TIA Sab
  5. Hi all, I'm looking for a new home for my A4 cabriolet. 2006, and I've owned her since 2007. I want her to go to someone who will take the time to restore her to her former glory. Her engine is fine but there are a few electrical bits that need repairing. Any suggestions of where to post an ad please? I'll add pictures but I wasn't sure if this was the right place.
  6. Hi all Just bought an A4 convertible with a dodgy roof. Guy has had it sitting for a while and stated that the roof did work before but doesn't now. upon getting the car home the 6 week old battery didn't hold a charge and left me stranded outside the chippy. heres the facts.... 1. central locking doesn't work 2. windows don't work 3. roof is dead 4. interior lights don't work 5. soft top warning keeps saying its not shut Ok, a little faultfinding tonight however I do believe the comfort control module is at fault here with all these issues. 1. the thick red wire going into the pump is getting a constant 12v even when the ignition is off. seems strange to me but I'm not an audi engineer 2. all the fuses are intact 3. replaced battery however I do think there is a draw coming from somewhere to have killed the last battery (thank god for Halfords warranty and an owner that kept receipts) 4. pump looks totally dry (moisture wise) but without a more in depth diagnostic machine we couldn't run it 5. vag com says that fuse 30 was open circuit - could have just us dicking about with it. Are we on the right track here? the comfort control module surely does all these things. I've bought a pump to be belt and braces but these things are around £180 second hand
  7. Hi, can any of you recommend a company in the Bucks/Oxford area that could supply & fit a rear window on my 1994 Audi Cab? Many thanks!
  8. Hi guys, hoping someone could shed some light for me I've recently had a a4 convertible, the roof unlatches and that's about it. I cleaned the bushes on the motor still the same. Done manual reset still nothing. Thing that's got me thinking is I can hear a noise when you put the switch into open which is confusing me a bit. Is the motor gone is it ok? Hope somebody could give some advice. Thanks
  9. Hi All! I've just acquired an A5 cabriolet with an ancient looking something or other under the armrest which is no use for anyone. Does anyone know of a minor mod or something I can do with this space to make it useful? I have bluetooth but an iphone so no wireless charging yet. Has anyone done anything like this? I've seen someone do something similar here but it's not quite the same and not a very innovative solution: Any pointers would be great! Thank you!
  10. Hi! Im a new Audi owner having just bought a 2011 A3 cabriolet. I was looking to have some Exterior mods done to it but have been told that as it’s a convertible there’s not much I can do. Does anyone have any ideas please? thank you!
  11. Hi, Could anyone point me in the direction of where to buy some seals for the bottom of the body (not the seal on the doors themselves) Mine have perished and rain water is beginning to get into the car. Car is a 2006 S4 Cabriolet Many thanks
  12. Guys My A4 Cabriolet has it rear window glass unstuck in the lower corner. Any tips other than the Garages "buy a replacement hood"? Thanks
  13. Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I found out about it because I bought an Audi A4 convertible last summer, and have recently been having some issues that I cannot figure out. I'm hesitant to bring it to a garage because 1) i think it will be expensive even to diagnose and 2) its COVID19 isolating times and 3) my friend is a mechanic and is willing to give it a try but he's not keen to do the research! So just a couple of weeks ago, my battery completely died, and I knew it was old, so my mechanic friend replaced it for me. He does not know how to reset the computer, if that is an issue. Everything seemed fine though, so whatever. The next day I took the car out for spin for first time in ages, and put the top down cuz it was a gorgeous day. When I returned home, the top would not close. The hydraulics lifted up the back cover, and then just went kaput, it would not continue the work. The back cover stayed up at 90 degrees. So I operated the top manually a few times, and after that it again started to work, but when it got to the point when the back cover had to lift on its hydraulics, it wouldn't go, just sat there, holding up the progression. Also the switch to operate the roof is a bit funny- it lets me start the process, then it dies. Then if I start it again, it goes for a bit, then dies.... I keep ending up with the roof halfway up. I'm sensing here is something wrong with the hydraulics motor, or a relay, or even a short somewhere? I'm so frustrated because I have hardly gotten to use the car with the top down since I bought it!! I would be grateful if anyone has any similar experiences and solutions to share. I am also desperately seeking the user manual for this articular model, it did not seem to come with the car when I bought it used last year. Thanx in advance!
  14. Hi all, wondering if anyone could help, I'm getting ready to install sub and amp in my a4 cab, I was wondering if anyone could help with access through the firewall for the power cable? Is there a grommet that comes out anywhere close to the battery? Hope someone can help. Thanks
  15. Hi all, This is only my second post very new to this forum so hey all! Just wanted to find some guidance on a problem I have recently had come up and I don't know where to go with it. Car is Audi A5 Cabriolet 2012 1.8 tfsi milage 54,855. The code is P0068 (have attached photo stating the codes details). Basically it doesnt point my in any direction of it it's the MAP sensor or the MAF sensor. And if it did where are they? Might sound dumb but I'm no techy by any standard but was just hoping to find some guidance and this one. The photo I've attached is my engine and he area I believe the MAF sensor would be but after doing some research online I seem to not be able to see a MAF sensor?. Anyone please! Help 🤣😂🤣 Ash
  16. Hi All, I recently purchased a 2007 B7 cabriolet that needs some work. I am wondering if the front wings, bonnet, bumper are the same as a 2007 B7 saloon/avant. Your help and knowledge would be greatly appreciated as main dealer reluctant to give out part numbers. thanks in advance.
  17. Hi I have an A4 cabriolet 2.0 TSi 2008 plate. For a while now the car does not start when it displays the self levelling/range headlight symbol. https://images.app.goo.gl/tPyF1TVNe63Ju4oYA If it does eventually start and the symbol disappears, I often have the engine management light on and the EPC light. If I turn the ignition off it often clears it and the car is fine. Other times when it starts the brake warning light comes on. It often happens when parked on slopes. I have tried removing the fuse for the lights, and this worked for a while, but now does not work. Sometimes playing with various switches enables the levelling light to disappear and it starts. Dipstick has lost its rubber seal, this caused the engine management light to be on last but was cleared with a poke or two. The car is currently in a car park as it would not start tonight. Any help greatly appreciated. Mark
  18. Hi All, I'm New to the forum, and need some advise please? I have a A4 cabriolet B6 2004,(CVT) and recently I have noticed this single knock/pop noise coming from low down in the car and can be felt more in the foot-well towards the middle of the car. This is only happening when i turn right and travailing above 15 mph+ and is always a single knock. I have just had new CV joints fitted so this can be ruled out i think, but just wanted to get some advice and if anyone else has had a similar issue? Thanks
  19. I am selling my 1997 Cabriolet 1.8 petrol 142000 miles. Midnight blue Clean M.O.T till December 2019 Runs great, roof works! Went to south of France and back with no issues whatsoever. The blower only works on full blast or off. Drivers side window not going down. Just had new battery fitted Looking for £1500 o.n.o.
  20. Hello everyone. I have just acquired (Wednesday) this 2009 S5 cabriolet. One owner from new, full main stealer service history, 41k. Last 2 cars were Porsches, an early 996 911 (briefly, didn't get on with it) and a 997.2 Boxster (loved it but getting hard to get in and out with me poor old back - plus it was a manual and wife has auto only licence which wasn't handy for long trips). But had Audis in the past. In chronological order an A4 cab, a Mk1 TT coupe 3.2 and a Mk2 TT convertible. The S5 has just had an inaugural trip from London the the Isle of Skye via Manchester; 650 miles including a couple of hundred on twisty and hilly Scottish roads. The S5 certainly dispatched the odd grouping of slower moving vehicles very efficiently, especially in sport mode. Averaged 30 mpg which I thought reasonable given the performance and the, err... highish motorway cruising speed. So loving it so far.
  21. Hi - relative newby here. I bought my lovely A3 in August and other than having a regular battery fitted so the auto stop/start function doesn't work (for which I got a deal on wheel refurb), it has been trouble free. Recently the battery has been draining to the point I thought the battery was failing, but a basic check has come out ok. I then discovered the alarm was going off. I read that as the battery discharges, various functions shut down to preserve the battery so I think that may have happened with the alarm however recently, when park up at home, within an hour the alarm goes off. I unlock the car and lock it but the alarm goes off again - most times. I've opened doors and then re-locked, but later the hazards come on. I suspect this is why my battery is draining. I thought maybe a spider was in the vehicle and walking over the sensors so I've put a cloth over the dash, but no different. Tonight I read the handbook and checked the diode response. When I lock the car remotely, the diode flashes six times then stays on for 25 seconds or so then flashes normally. The handbook says if it stays on for 30 seconds there is a malfunction. Seems clear to me there is! Anyone got a fix? The car was bought from an independent and is under warranty, but they are unlikely to be able to fix something like this, so I need info before I go back to them. Cheers!
  22. What's the best way to tidy up/clean the pillars surrounding the windscreen on a cabriolet? Can you use metal polish? Or do they have a coating that could become damaged?
  23. I have an A4 b7 Convertible, seems the motor connected to the pump has stopped working, Roof only folds back 1 inch or rear panel lifts 1 inch I have seen on ebay a guy who fully refurbs the motors for about 85 quid, would you say this is the sensible route?
  24. Chrome Windscreen Trim for Audi B6 2001-2004 Convertible Both Sides and Top Trim complete with Black Trim and Rubber seals £150 the set Collection Only EN5 Barnet - North London
  25. Hi, I’m new here but not new to Audi. I like cars and always have but I know virtually zero about anything technical. I can only just top up the oil and even that can be a challenge. I’ve been driving an Audi A4 Cabriolet for 10 years and I've just bought, (but yet to actually get hold of) an almost new A3 Cabriolet. I’d like to get a tracker put on it and the Audi main dealer can do it but I’d like to know if it’s something I could/should do myself? Any recommendations. I’d also like to get a rear view camera (I’m 66 and have a stiff back) but the main dealer won’t fit it. I stretched myself a little with the car and I’m not wild about the Audi main dealer style prices so wonder if this is a common and easy fix too? Thank you.
