  2. Engineer from Audi road service called but was completely baffled by the problem. He scanned the vehicle and found a number of "U" codes which he said means parts of the electronics were not communicating with each other. He was astonished the Audi dealer was too busy to look at the car especially as it is only 5 weeks old. He said he would contact Audi customer services directly as see what could be done to resolve the issue and to get the dealer to do the job they are supposed to do. I'll keep you posted on any developments.
  3. If you’ve had S Tronic gearbox service (every 38k miles), and you have VCDS, then I would do gearbox adaption calibration in basic settings. Few videos as mentioned. Try than and see if any improvement.
  4. If you’re going to the bother of doing transmission, then nothing wrong with doing front and rear diffs. They should be fine until 100k, but they only take 2-3 litres, so hardly going to break the bank. The Tiptronic box is a different story, 8 litres of special ATF.
  5. Battery should be 12.4v minimum. If it’s original battery you’ve done well. Replacement is AGM type, and coded to the car, vented, etc.

  7. Thanks Cliff I will have a look in yellow pages 👀
  8. Not the cheapest, but reviews say its a good battery, but time will tell
  9. As a first step get the battery tested on deep discharge testing equipment. A dying battery could be your problem.
  10. As suspected, the central air flap motor is defective according to VCDS.
  11. Thank you Wayne. It's a shame the car has reached the end of its economic life, but it happens to all cars eventually. Mine was a year younger than yours but it got to the point that an expensive gearbox repair, plus the rising cost of fuel, made it unviable to keep it running.

  13. I'd say it is more likely related to power steering than AC.
  14. Primed pressurised fuel lines can hold 1-2 litres (diesels). For context I’ve got the 73 litre tank capacity. I’ve ran my tdi 40 unintentionally to 12 mile range (according to dashboard) I filled up and put 61 litres back in. so I knew that I had well over 10 litres in the tank but as others have said your destroy the pump and most likely be sucking up debris that unfortunately does get through petrol pumps. Not recommended to let it go below 1/4 of a tank if you can.
  15. Hi try reading the MAF and MAP sensor readings on live data when cold start, I would guess it could be the MAF sensor if its the original unit as they tend to play about when they get old. Steve.
  16. Hello all. I have recently changed my 2012 A6 for a 2014 as above. The car is in nice condition but it is using a bit of oil. I have done about 400 miles in it since Tuesday this week and already the oil level has dropped quite a bit. My 2012 Audi did not have this problem . Is it because it is a 3L V6 or does this have a potential oil problem? Many thanks
  17. Cheers, its on finance, been doing some reading have upto 6 months for them to attempt 1 repair, but presumably will have to get proper diagnotics, will take it to AUDI specialist to have checked over, god knows how much that will cost. and checked the P number lable in boot and gear box type is NYM From internet: The Audi "NYM" is an 8-speed Multitronic automatic transmission, which is a type of Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) And the gearbox filter just had changed is the round thing that goes in top of gearbox. I wish it wasent CVT (own fault for not doing enough research, but will see, I have been trying to do some research and people have said this thing has mind of its own and when use manual to drop gear it can go back into normal automode by itself if thinks may be at risjk of causing an issue, as I say there are no fault codes on gearbox, its dosent slip under accelartion, just this slight hesitation when moving off when warm. Apart from that eveything else is smooth.
  18. Hi, not sorted yet, everything points to the fact that they are correct, even from the manufacturer. I’ve decided to go with OEM from Audi. Paying for a job twice isn’t the best and the cost for Audi ones are quite expensive compared to aftermarket. Not sure I’ll get the money back on the springs. Once again, hindsight is a wonderful thing and thank you for asking.
  19. It's a bug. Both my current A3 and my previous Q3 both constantly showed "Irregularities detected" and Windows "rear open" in the myAudi app. Needless to say, all doors and windows were securely closed and locked. I did post a comment to that effect in the Apple App Store but no sign of a fix.
  20. Hi All, can someone help and advise the part number for c6 avant, fwd, 2.0tdi rear subframe, please? I am struggling to find one.
  21. Failure of flap motors/linkages crops up regularly in these forums, so I'd agree that's the place to look first.
  22. I would really like to think that perhaps reactions around rudeness might be as a result of cultural differences, rather than individual personalities. However, if I’m wrong, I will consider closing this thread. Regards, Gareth.
  23. I'm sure I've seen this with other new Audi models. I think there's a software update for the issue.
  24. Nice, looking forward to seeing how this develops
  25. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up.

  27. Reducing the trim and features seems to be a policy with vag cars. Latest gti does not have an automatic bonnet stay or dipstick. You can buy them separately if you want to retrofit.
  28. thanks for all the help lads,i think ill concentrate now on getting my own engine sorted,as Cliff says a 2nd hand engine will still have a lot of work done so at least with my own one i can strip it and make it good again, itll be a project that i can work on over the next 7 or 8 months.thanks again
