  2. Was this response of any help to you?
  3. Hello Phil, If not the spring pan itself, are you talking the straight link arm, or the curved one. Although I keep pushing this with no personal connection:- Have a look at Parts in Motion website. They are very precise in their descriptions , and I’ve got the impression the straight arm is handed - from not very good memory! If in doubt just give them a ring. I’ve used Febi brand to good avail. Please let us know how you get on Phil. Regards, Gareth.
  4. Thanks, Faulty new starter motor? The fact that it’s new is no guarantee that it is serviceable out-of-the-box, or that it will remain so during its guarantee period. Sub standard electrical components from distance parts are not uncommon! Having said that, was your original one the culprit?? Varta battery should be fine and is likely to be the OEM brand, although I have had issues with them in recent years, and no longer depend on their quality vs. brand. Pressing clutch pedal before starting:- by no means an uncommon requirement.

  6. Hi, would anyone know if the wishbones at the back of an A3 2010 8P 1.6 Petrol are interchangeable? They appear to have different codes but look the same. Wanted to check before ordering as see some advertising as left and right, while others are advertising as left only. This is the rear lower front control arm / wishbone and not the one which the spring sits on. Looking to replace both. Many thanks in advance.
  7. Hi I got a bit muddled, main failure is EPC. If you just have ESP it's a fault with the traction control and ABS. If it ESP then it could be a sensor at the wheels but you have both lights on the dash, it could be a faulty brake light switch on the pedal.

  9. Awesome thanks heaps. When you say main control failure are you referencing to the TCM or ECU? How did you fix yours in the end? Iv already installed a second hand but supposedly working TCM but still have the issue. Thankyou for returning to a nearly 5 year old post, really appreciate it. Cheers
  10. You need to run a switched live from the fusebox to the aftermarket wiring loom, the standard radio wiring doesn't have the switched 12 volts to turn on when you turn the ignition on. As for the esp fault, Its a main control failure I think. Quite possibly a shorted wire when pulling the radio out.
  11. If you've bought it from a dealer I'd get it back to them asap for repair. They should repair it free of charge
  12. Can’t help with the paint code, but if you’re refurbishing yourself, Würth silver paint aerosols are as close to OE as you can get without going down professional wheel refurb route with powder coat, etc. Needs a few coats of lacquer too. Get the Würth 891090 spray attachment.
  13. Hello you all! I am a newbie yes! I do plan on keeping my newly acquired a3 convertible for a while yet. It has this one niggly issue at the moment that is bugging me, though. It flashes up ABS\ESP\BRAKE warnings on the dash. It comes up when scanned that its got no code! A friend has showed me where to input a new code for it on VCDS .. but I'm having trouble finding the code for it. Can anybody on this forum support me at all, please? My car is a 2008 2.0tdi 140bhp. It does NOT have TPMS if that helps? My vin is TRUZZZ8P391007671
  14. Thanks for your response. Tony
  15. yes, so i have it currently at a garage who does specialise, im on the third one and they all reckon its a faulty new starter motor that was put in. it is manual and i dont need to depress the clutch, the car starts like every regular car. I know the battery says 'varta' on it is that what youre reffering to? thank you!!!
  16. Hello Sarah, Sorry to hear of your issue. I think that if it were mine, I would be getting the car inspected by a trusted local auto electrician - they should be better versed in such issues than a local garage. As a matter of interest:- Is it a manual? If so, do you need to depress the clutch pedal or similar to normally start the car? Make of newly replaced battery? Regards, Gareth.
  17. Hi. I'm sorry we were unable to help. Regards, Dan.
  18. You're welcome please keep us posted on how you get on 🙂

  21. As Cliff says plus it's a money making racquet
  22. I wonder if this is a fault with the instrument cluster. You can send it off for an assessment and repair. Repairs usually are around £200-£300
  23. Thank you appreciate it
  24. Darn. I'll take another look online to see what more I can find 🙂
  25. Can’t seem to find anything on google about where it is on same engine bay as mine and tried to look in same place as diagram and don’t think it’s there
  26. I’m not sure the diagram is the same as my engine
  27. No you should be able to I think. I think it'll depend if it has canbus which was first introduced either in 2003 or 2004. My A6 is pre canbus so it's slightly harder due to the system not being as complex as later ones. But either way a competent mechanic should be able to diagnose it.
