Rybrook started following A3 Sportback ESP Fault.

You need to run a switched live from the fusebox to the aftermarket wiring loom, the standard radio wiring doesn't have the switched 12 volts to turn on when you turn the ignition on. As for the esp fault, Its a main control failure I think. Quite possibly a shorted wire when pulling the radio out.

If you've bought it from a dealer I'd get it back to them asap for repair. They should repair it free of charge

Can’t help with the paint code, but if you’re refurbishing yourself, Würth silver paint aerosols are as close to OE as you can get without going down professional wheel refurb route with powder coat, etc. Needs a few coats of lacquer too. Get the Würth 891090 spray attachment.

Hello you all! I am a newbie yes! I do plan on keeping my newly acquired a3 convertible for a while yet. It has this one niggly issue at the moment that is bugging me, though. It flashes up ABS\ESP\BRAKE warnings on the dash. It comes up when scanned that its got no code! A friend has showed me where to input a new code for it on VCDS .. but I'm having trouble finding the code for it. Can anybody on this forum support me at all, please? My car is a 2008 2.0tdi 140bhp. It does NOT have TPMS if that helps? My vin is TRUZZZ8P391007671

yes, so i have it currently at a garage who does specialise, im on the third one and they all reckon its a faulty new starter motor that was put in. it is manual and i dont need to depress the clutch, the car starts like every regular car. I know the battery says 'varta' on it is that what youre reffering to? thank you!!!
-
Hello Sarah, Sorry to hear of your issue. I think that if it were mine, I would be getting the car inspected by a trusted local auto electrician - they should be better versed in such issues than a local garage. As a matter of interest:- Is it a manual? If so, do you need to depress the clutch pedal or similar to normally start the car? Make of newly replaced battery? Regards, Gareth.

As Cliff says plus it's a money making racquet

I wonder if this is a fault with the instrument cluster. You can send it off for an assessment and repair. Repairs usually are around £200-£300

Thank you appreciate it

Darn. I'll take another look online to see what more I can find 🙂

Can’t seem to find anything on google about where it is on same engine bay as mine and tried to look in same place as diagram and don’t think it’s there

No you should be able to I think. I think it'll depend if it has canbus which was first introduced either in 2003 or 2004. My A6 is pre canbus so it's slightly harder due to the system not being as complex as later ones. But either way a competent mechanic should be able to diagnose it.
-
Thanks Steve, I have heard that about batteries. I will start with a diagnostic check first. I just thought my car might be too old for this to be part of the diagnosis checks.

I have been searching for a while trying to find the paint code for my alloys on A4 B9 (picture below), can anyone point me in the right direction where to find the paint code? Thanks Mark
-
This will depend on spec but there were changes to the headlights, rear lights and safety systems
-
Id recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Could be an issue with the window switch. Or bizarrely it might be worth checking the battery to make sure it's working efficiently as a failing battery can throw up unusual electrical gremlins

Just checked similar threads. I member had a similar issue with there A1 and the positive terminal had corrosion which was stopping it from starting properly:

Hi MiguelP, I would state to the dealer that it must be rectified before your extended warranty expires. Mine must have been an electrical ‘glitch’ because the only thing Audi Oldham did was to plug it into the diagnostic. Hope you get it resolved. Regards, Andrew
