Crazycarlo
Hi all, Me and my girlfriend have put a deposit down on a Q3, and the collection is tomorrow. We have just realised that the cam belt hasn’t been changed and wondered if this should be done before purchased with the dealership? It’s a 2.0 Diesel 62 plate with 30,000 on clock. Any advice? Thanks.
WPAWS
Most manufacturers recommend a cambelt change every 40,000 to 60,000 miles. so if the dealer wont change it i`m afraid your going to have to fit the bill down the line
Magnet
Hello Carl, Others with more specific model information will no doubt advise you, but cambelts are normally recommend to be changed at mileage intervals or a certain number of years- whichever comes first. My feeling would be that it would now be advisable to change the belt on this 6 year old vehicle despite its low mileage. 5 year intervals come to mind. I take it you will not be buying the car from a main dealer (too old?). Independent car sales can sometimes arrange to get this done for you, but to me this is one if the most critical applications on a car, and it's important that good quality parts - main dealer - are used, rather than aftermarket. Who are you buying it from as a matter if interest? Kind regards, Gareth.
Crazycarlo
Hi both, Thanks for your advice. I had an email from the dealer (days), the minute I sent this post out saying that the cam belt was in fact done by Audi in November last year so that’s a worry off my mind! thanks for your help though . Carl.
Steve Q
Glad you're sorted Carl, and its definitely peace of mind! That'll be another 5 years until you have to worry about it :)
