Central locking

Featured Replies

Hi, there are a few topics about the central locking on here but struggling to get my issue resolved. (Audi a3 2006 8p)
a year or two ago the remote fob became intermittent and had less range. Changed the batteries and it didn’t make a difference. Eventually the remote stopped working (on Both keys) so had to physically use the key to gain access to the car. When the key is in the ignition I can use the door buttons to open all the doors and boot to the car. I went to an auto electrician who told me the keys are sending the signal and that water can get into the ccm and cause this issue... he recommend trying a new fob... but wanted to check on here with what you guys think? So I have checked the ccm in the boot and it is bone dry, when I use my fob near it I can hear it click. So my question is what is the next stage of central locking after the CCM that I can take a look at? I was thinking Maybe the pump? But then as my door can unlock the whole of the locking is that not the issue. Any ideas welcome please!
thanks

Welcome to the forum Dean, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂

When I had a similar problem a few years ago it was the drivers door mechanism that had failed. The drivers door mechanism controls the rest of the central locking. Cost me £120 to fix from an auto electrician.

I do hope it's the CCM as mine is displaying the same symptoms as yours again.

Cheers

Steve

I echo Steve's suggestion about the driver's door lock. It is the master control for the other locks. My problem a few years ago was one of the rear doors not unlocking though all the others did. The fault lay in the driver door lock which had to be renewed.

Brill That’s a good suggestion, I’ll take a look at it. It may be a while till a replacement part arrives but will post on how I get on. Thanks 👌👍

No joy! Replaced the driver door mechanism, and tried a used ccm. Noticed a couple of wires in the driver door loom in the rubber boot had split but not broken. So will try and look at that next... any other ideas welcome. Will keep the post updated 👍

Wow, I'm running out of suggestions! Hoping repairing the wire issue resolved it.
