Featured Replies

Hi i've taken my Audi A3 Diesel for a problem with yellow Glow Plug warning light flashing intermittently the codes came as Exhaust Flow Sensor my mechanic said he'd reset the cars computer just to see if it was a glitch any way still came on so he went a head and fitted new sensor but unfortunately it started flashing again today , took it in and he's scratching his head said he'd look into it , is there anybody on here who's had a similar problem and could shed some light on it ?  Code description  " Trouble codes 5265 / ( Original trouble code : P242C00) Exhaust-Gas Temperature Sensor 3 (Bank 1)

Cheers Dave

Hello David,

Sorry I can help you directly with codes, but it’s not unusual to change highlighted faulty components, only to find the fault still exists.

Since your mechanic is scratching his head, I take it he is not a diesel specialist, and if not, my port of call would be to find yourself a trusted local diesel specialist and entrust the diagnosis and repair to them - not an ‘ordinary’ non diesel garage.

You can usually get recommendations on diesel specialists by asking at your local taxi rank.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Just an update , it turned out to be a short on the wiring loom , apparently modern wiring is very thin and can rub and wear out , they also replaced 3 sensors but reading between the lines it was the short , anyway  problem seems to have been sorted .
