LED headlights - worth having?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, Do the LED headlights give a better beam pattern/brighter/better than HID.

Just wondering if it’s worth getting them retro-fitted.

Ok, it seems it’s worth asking at least then.

I see you have a 2015 Allroad - I don't think the lights changed but I can make a direct comparison between the standard xenons and the LEDs.  I had a 2016 Allroad from new as a lease car (almost no options) and now have a 2018 model Allroad Sport with the standard LED lights.  I preferred the standard xenon lights to the LEDs; the LEDs are very directional and have quite a sharp cut-off, so they don't seem to light as far up the road on dipped beam and they don't show you what's low down to the side of the car.  If I had my choice again I'd be quite happy with the standard headlights or would want to option the matrix LEDs.

Basically I think you could spend quite a bit of money to upgrade and find they're not actually better.
