Transfer box

Featured Replies

Hey!

I have Audi A3 8P 3.2 V6 and my transfer box is broken and now im trying to find new one... does it need to be exact same model than mine or is it just okey when part number (0AV 409 053P) is right? does it matter if the box is from 4 cylinder car? 🙂

I suspect you'll need a 3.2 transfer box due to the gear ratios which will differ from the 4 cylinders.

Yeah that what i was thinking too.. its just so hard to find those boxes. Specially here in finland..

I think eBay is your best bet, especially for international sellers.

I agree the gear ratios are likely to be different in a 4 cylinder car.

I would be very wary of buying a secondhand gearbox from outside Finland via Ebay unless it had a cast iron guarantee that included return carriage. Over here we have car breakers (aka dismantlers or recyclers,) who often sell parts on line. Is there such a system in Finland, or do cars have to be taken to official Audi recyclers?

I think your best option would be to find a specialist gearbox rebuilder who will renew broken parts and fit new bearings. Such companies exist here so I daresay you will have them too in a country with a long rallying tradition.

Hey! yeah so now i need to find new box  or repair my own box.. Here in finland is 5 similar cars on sale so its hard to find parts even on the car dismantler.. yeah its always risk to buy on ebay. Now im trying to contact some workshops who can repair boxes.

I found 1 box on the ebay in UK but he is not going to post it on finland so that sucks.

Could you try a shipping site like Shipley? I've used them to move cars before and can recommend the site. It's a sister company to ebay where people bid on your shipping order. Lowest bid wins and you choose which one you go for.
