Alarm Randomly setting off

Featured Replies

Hi, my 2017 Q7 alarm randomly sets off. It’s been like this over a week and it’s driving me mad because I can’t solve the issue. The car battery seems strong and has never let me down ! I’ve looked all over internet for solutions, none seem to work.

has anyone experienced this and solved the issue?
Thanks

Hi, no fly or anything on diagnostics?!
Ive got it booked in with Audi on Monday but it’s driving me mad and I need a quicker solution. I’m paranoid about parking anywhere now, I’ve even developed alarm tinnitus !
Thanks for replying though

I know all the threads and videos on YT show the button on DS door, but no there’s only a red reflector light there !

That's very odd. I recall it was a long time before I found the switches in mine, (one for no alarm and one for leaving a pet inside,) because the handbook diagram was unclear. Unfortunately I don't now recall the exact location and I no longer have the car for reference. They may even have been on the near side door which of course would be the driver's door in Germany.

Did you find out what the problem was? My alarm randomly goes off too.

I changed the key fob battery and ever since that my alarm  randomly goes off. Took it to the dealership for a Diagnostic check and it came back as attempted theft but not 💯 sure will need to do further checks

Hi, I took to my local garage and the computer showed fault on alarm sensor. So the reason it kept going off was to tell me the car was not locked.
So he changed the alarm sensor, to the pretty tune of ÂŁ350, but at least my tinnitus has gone.

Sorry I was incorrect saying it’s telling me the car wasn’t locked! The car was locked but the alarm wasn’t on! Which I was grateful for because I started hearing the alarm in my sleep, paranoia had set in!

I thought it would stop , without having a mechanic to intervene, but no. As soon as it starts randomly going off, get it booked in to have the alarm sensor changed, but be prepared for a big bill.
I had booked in the car initially with Audi and they had informed me “to investigate” aka hook up to the computer it would £150 before they even find out what is wrong!

Hope this helps someone else. I tried everything prior to getting properly sorted ie, changed batteries in both key hobs, used nearly a full canister of fly spray in case a fly was setting off and even not locking the car.

Thanks

Gillian
