Looking to buy a B7

Featured Replies

Hi looking to buy my first Audi B7 diesel, budgets around 3k so looking at high mileage but with SH and Timing Belt change. Any advice in terms of what to look out for and, which models have Start / Stop system? Thanks.

Was looking to buy one with the start/stop but guessing from your comment I'm better avoiding it 😁?

Have a look at buyers guides on YouTube.

Make sure heater is working and consistent, if it's not it could be a blocked heater matrix.

If you're looking at autos make sure the gearbox has been serviced on time.

I have to say that the presence of stop/start on an otherwise desirable car would not put me off buying it. My limited experience of the system on a nine year old Skoda automatic is that it works well, though it is a little unnerving at first to find the engine starting itself as soon as the throttle pedal is pressed.

Having said that, I am not convinced the system is worthwhile because in slow moving traffic jams it puts a huge drain on the battery, and will soon be automatically disabled as the voltage drops.
