Audi A3 Satnav problems

Featured Replies

I have an Audi A3 S line 2015 model. It has been great until now. The Sat nav has stopped working giving me the message 'please insert navigation data medium'. Can anyone help please?

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Hopefully it's just a problem with an SD card/disc. Worse case scenario it's a problem with the unit.

Have you tried a reset of the unit?

Hi Steve. Thank you so much for your response. I have not tried a unit reset. I've no experience of doing this, can it be achieved by a beginner like me? Are you able to send instructions on how to resent the unit please, I'd be most grateful. Christine.

Yep can be done by yourself 🙂 have a look on YouTube on MMI reset, you'll need to put in your specific type of radio for it such as concert, symphony etc.

Hi (again) Steve.

In anticipation of needing to find the unit in the car containing the satnav, I poked about in the glove box where the only 'unit' I could find lives (i.e. CD player). Guess what, there are two small ports, and from one a small 'chip' was hanging out. This is just below the CD player disc insert. I looked at it and guessed this could be my satnav 'data medium'. so I pushed it home into it's port, and (low and behold) my satnav is now working again. Amazing!

Unfortunately, I suspect that the cars recent visit to an Audi main dealer was the cause, for some reason (and I am guessing here) they may have 'popped' it out and forgotten to replaced it. Anyway the satnav is working now.

I so appreciate your response(s). It gave me confidence to 'have a go'.

Thank you.

Christine.
