Anyone up for saving my V6 petrol Avant from the breakers?

Welcome Harry,

Well we have had some brief posts to date, but I’d put money on it that yours won’t be beaten at anytime!

Just walk back to the previous bus stop, have a sit down and compile some suitable words which describe what you have, what it is like and want your goal is. Photos would be good/essential.

Thanks Magnet . More info as you suggested. Have owned car since 2017. It's in reasonable condition bodywise , has full leather seats and factory sunroof. Head lining needs replacing but otherwise interior good .Front end accident damage in 2021 - bonnet radiator and headlights replaced .Good deal of work done on engine in 2022 with rocker gaskets and oil seals replaced , new timing belt ,water pump and coolant hoses . Has now got fresh oil leak and plastic heater core tail has broken up. Needs someone with a workshop and the necessary skills to fix it. Believe not many examples left , so hoping someone is interested in preserving it rather than it being broken and / or scrapped. Love this car ,so it's not about money , it's about finding the old girl a new home .IMG_20251128_124948.thumb.jpg.c247adb74bd2e04ac2b1a0be3f678f26.jpgIMG_20251128_124935.thumb.jpg.b96d7ba5630328fb135ec7391e461525.jpg

As I said, it's the good home rather than the money, but think it's scrap value is £200-300 so would be happy with that.

Love the B5 Avant shape and that’s a cracking colour. Great project for someone. Used to have a 2001 B5 2.5TDI V6 Sport quattro avant. Sold it a number of years ago at 1 75k miles. Used to regularly search for it on MOT check to see that someone was looking after the old girl. Got to over 200k miles then went quiet and lapsed MOT.

Couldn't agree more , lovely looking car , great colour , and a great drive. Got a b8 2.0 TDI S LINE  Avant as replacement - nice car but build quality not as good as the old girl.

Thanks Steve . I'm sure it's a case of when not if.

Just wanted to say thanks for messages of support received, but sadly nobody has expressed interest in taking on the old girl , so unless someone wants to come to Derby with a trailer or recovery truck in the next few weeks and take her away she's for the breakers . Such a shame 🙁

Tax will only go up in April too 😕

Hi they got part of what they wanted and that's more misguided souls buying electric without realising the value will plummet faster Than the atom bomb that fell out of Enola !Removed!, this means less fuel duty so why not kick everyone in the ghoulies with a VED hike that includes EV owners, meanwhile they at the top can have dubious friends and arrange dodgy payments for them which they don't remember, god help anyone who has not paid road tax, talk about dual standards.
