DPF issue

Featured Replies

My DPF filter was cleaned by an Audi specialist yesterday, but the warning light has come back on. There were no faults showing yesterday after the cleaning process. Any ideas?

The previous check showed that a sensor has been mapped out. I've been told that this will have to be mapped back in to find the underlying fault if it occurs again. Then if an error shows up, that will be the issue. Is this true?

It sounds like the sensor was mapped out to get rid of an irritating warning, while not solving the fundamental problem that caused the warning in the first place. No wonder remapping gets such a bad reputation.

Thanks folks!

Hi most likely culprit is a failing EGT sensor, you can only diagnose the with live data [scan whilst running] there are a multitude of variables such as DPF pressure sensors, did they give you the original code that instigated the cleaning process?.

No they did not, but I'm going to call back with them on Monday to investigate the way forward. That's why I'm happy with all this input. Thanks!

Hi guys,

The car is going back to the dealers on Friday for repair or refund. I will update on the outcome in due course. Thanks for all the advice, it made a strong case!

Hi I take it they didn't want to give up the codes.

No Steve. Just that there was a censor mapped out. So it's going back to the dealer I bought it from to sort. The warranty people wouldn't even touch it because it had been modified.

I only left it with the dealer on Friday at lunchtime, so we'll see what occurs over the coming days. They have said that they will fix the issue, whatever it is.

So far so good after the work was completed by the dealer, but they wouldn't tell me what they did. Or should I say, they told me "we don't know until we get the invoice". I just hope it's sorted. Sorry I am of no use to anyone else, with a similar issue.

The dealer's feeble excuse sounds suspicious to my cynical way of thinking. Nevertheless if the problem has been solved rather than concealed it's a good outcome.

Hi all, looks like the fabulous mapping out strikes again which makes you wonder how many others there are out there that have been modified and the unsuspecting buyer wont know, one of my daughters boyfriends once told her, your dad don't like me because I know how to modify cars, his most famous modification being a catch tank he fitted to his rather asthmatic Fiesta diesel, she phoned me on their way back from a weekend away asking where I thought the smokescreen behind the car was coming from, I waited until they got home and found the catch tank was ventilating via a tube down by the bottom of the rear bulkhead and was spraying oil vapour all over the exhaust, good skills thought I.

Ah, catch tanks. The favourite bodge of the clever clogs amateur mechanic intent on defeating every attempt to improve the atmosphere we breathe. It seems to be particularly popular in America.

Guys, my initial issue has been sorted, I'm not saying it is perfect,  but at least the dealer was as good as his word. I was also told that if it happens again, bring it back, which I have in writing. Personally I think it will be going back at some stage. I'll keep you posted.
