car has 2520 miles. Has not had its first oil change. Temp today was 1% Fahrenheit.

The oil level sensor is notoriously unreliable. Does the car have a real dipstick?

It does not. Only the digital.

@Stevey Y have you heard anything like this on the 2025’s. Could it be the cold.

Some folks have fitted a dipstick for peace of mind. Not a big job. Purchase from main dealer. They won't have a part number for your car as they are no longer a routine part but earlier model should fit.

A 2025 will have a 3 years Audi warranty.

Hi nothing new on the later models except that they still use the flawed sensors, what rocket scientist thought it was a good idea to use something that has the reading connectors exposed in boiling oil, as long as you haven't topped it up at all if anything it should only show low, this and the great idea of having a sensor on the bonnet catch that throws its toys out of the pram if you open the bonnet again after servicing the car the sensorial show empty because thats the last reading it had after you had drained the oil, either way Cliff is right they will have to fix it.

Well I took her out today, when I cranked her up, there was no warning. I still took her for a long drive to get her up to temp. Get the oil up to temp, etc.

So your prepared to just live it from a 2025 motor ??  Instead of using the Audi warranty and book it in. ?

Hello Anthony,

You don’t have to concern yourself to any degree regarding the ins and outs, and reasons why with this under-warranty vehicle has an issue.

Appreciating this has already been said, but your sole responsibility is to make contact with a dealership, book it in, explain the symptoms, and request ‘ Fix it please’ - ASAP.
Regards,

Gareth.

Just spoke with Master Tech at Audi (Valley Imports in Fargo ND). He stated that if I would have brought it there, they would have taken it out on the highway, got it up to temp, the message would have went away, and they would have returned the vehicle to me. They would not have removed any fluids and not conducted an oil change as there is no need. He sees it all the time, he stated it’s a temp sensor causing the message. Once the oil gets to temperature it goes out.

Seeing as oil expands when hot , id expect to see it at temperature tbh.  I see alot of this fault on the mercedes forums .  It's not just Audi ..

It really does not matter how or why it happens, the fact remains it is a defect and should be fixed at no charge to you in a new car. In the UK the responsibilty for fixing that defect lies with the vendor, on your side of the Atlantic it may be different.

I do wonder what else this fella will contend with after shelling out over 50 grand . Id be banging at the Audi dealers doors .

I look at it this way. That little MMI warning or whatever you wanna call it, is not a check engine light. The warning went away. I mean how many warnings have Audi owners seen that really don’t mean anything. If it was a CEL I would be more concerned.
I drove a Chevrolet before this, you wanna see a POS with more CEL and problems than it’s worth. Buy a Chevrolet. I had a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss. Biggest POS I have ever owned.

Get this guys. It’s been above 20 degrees this past week and a half. Same driving habits and no MMI message. Oil gets to temp quicker. It’s gotta be the temp sensor setting off this message. When I go in for my one year check, I am going to mention this and state that I want a new temp sensor. I mean Audi is aware of this issue. Why not put out a OTA update to fix it.

Which dipstick will fit this engine? Can anyone steer me to the right part #?

Hi you may not be aware that if you fit a dipstick it could void your warranty as they are not officially approved parts, they will use any excuse to void a warranty, I believe the temperature sensor is built in with the level sensor in the sump.

That makes sense. I know my 2021 Subaru Legacy XT had a temp sensor and would stay on til oil was up to temp. Owners manual stated not to get over 2000rpm until oil temp light went out for protection of turbo.

Just one light - your lucky. I’ve had many including engine management light from 500 miles, Audi have no fix either. Many in the uk are rejecting these vehicles due to the many issues coming to light.

1 Deg F is cold - in electronic terms is is what I would call f'ing cold. Most electronic assemblies have working range temperatures that are dictated by the  operational temperature range (Highest and lowest) of its components.

We get in our cars and expect everything to work be it -20 or +40 C in all humidity levels and expect them to just work. The more complex cars have become, the more we will get the odd glitch. The way sensors communicate on CAN, it only takes a slightly out of range signal to raise a flag.

I concede that Software (Firmware) can have a lot to do with what alarms raise and when we see them - note that all the SW and FW is doing is setting how many times a sensor signal has to go out of range and for how long it is OOR before flashing up an alert. Yes sensors can fail rather than get a little confused temporarily but a failed sensor would be raising an alert on every start up  or maintaining a persistent warning on the dash.

Back in the day of carbs and chokes we would dismiss a miss fire as carb icing in the winter- now we will see an EML come up causing all sorts of concerns.
