Upgrading Headlights/Rear tail lights

Featured Replies

Hi,

We have an A8 2004 6.0L Saloon OV54 CXE and I have been asked to purchase 2 x headlamp units and rear inner/outer tail light units. The problem I have is that the customer doesn't want a like for like replacements but wants to update them with a later design.

I'm not sure that this is possible but any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Gareth

Hi Clifford, Thanks for the reply.

To be honest, what I've been tasked to do may be a fools errand.

The criteria is that he wants to update the headlights and rear lights with a more modern 'bling' type style. Whether that is LED or not.

The problem is finding out from someone what other lights can be used instead which fit the vehicle.

He was hoping someone on this forum had done a similar conversion project.

I am at a loss of who to ask. I am used to replacing like for like parts.

Cheers,

Gareth

Issue 1. If the car has halogen headlights and the owner wants to convert to xenon then the car will need a headlight washer system installed to make it road legal.

If I'm not mistaken this version of A8 (d3) was made untill 2009 so fitting later headlights and tail lights might be an option. But the later units would be coded to the car as can us was brought in in 2007.
