Audi 2.0tfsi 2017 Manual service advice tips and tricks

Hallo Everyone !!!

I recently become a  new owner of Audi A5 2.0tfsi manual,I have to admit I never owned one and never been a big fan of it until now.

It looks good, quality of materials  inside are good too  you all know that. It is my first Petrol car always drove BMW diesels, 325d 4 cylinders 215hp. now changed to 190hp Audi a5 and it is slow I mean you don't feel its going forward , I know it has les newtonmetres etc, is heavier car, petrol drives different to diesel, etc .Ok I'm comming  straight to the point.

My questions are as follows and I'm hoping to get some advice tips and recommendations from all of You in regards this particular model, engine, maintenance, perhaps tuning etc.

Oil change intervals and oil recommendation ?   I am using 0W20  shell helix and will change oil every 6000mls as I did in all my previous vehicles, Audi recommend I think is 10 or 15k  oil change interval  using long life rubbish, what is your opinion on that ???  also are you flushing the system prior to to the oil change, was reading  something about it somewhere.

Cam chain or belt replacement ?  I think it have a chain but You tell me ? and when should it be replaced ? My car covered 38.000mls  I did not receive any service book just a print out from Audi when service has been done. On my Mmi small screen I can only see the next oil change that's it  very poor.😀

Coolant interval change ?  also should I replace the plastic coolant reservoir with a aluminium one? I read. somewhere that they tend to melt or is it the housing self  because apparently it is to close to the engine not sure,  heat coming from the engine could have some impact on that. Please let me know if this is still the case or what this in earlier models??  My Audi is 2017 reg.

Fuel filter interval change how often ?

Break fluid change how often ?

Performance increase remap without changing any hardware  turbo etc  how much. increase is possible to be on the safe site ? remember my car is a manual not auto and not quatro

any recommendation regards garage south Wales region ? please not a back yard garage where you. get eco remap from the shelf

I strongly believe that someone will be able to answer all those questions and even get much much more tips for my old new Audi .

Thanks in advance

Rob .

Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂

Did the car come with a service book?

What service history did it come with?

Brake fluid should be every 2 years. Servicing will be minor and major. So;

Minor: oil and oil filter change

Major: oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter.

I wouldn't do a remap untill you know the service history. Have a look on Celtic tuning website as it has a configurator which shows you potential power outputs from their remaps.

Here's the service intervals:

I've also merged your duplicate threads.

Thanks Steve for Your quick response

I've got a print out from Audi, rather then a whole book as this was not present when purchased the from  Sytner.

It looks ok to me what do you think ? car covered 37000mls  2 previous owners checked also with car vertical everything looks all right to me.

I booked a service for this Thursday oil change, oil filter, air filter, ideally id like to change the fuel filter as well but  eurocarparts don't have any.

can you recommend any other online store for Audi parts ? or do I have go direct to Audi to get fuel filter and break fluid.

below I attach the print out so you can have look self.

the only thing which is not so good  that the car have  manual gear box rather then auto. however it drives well no problems with it.(can't have everything )😁.

not sure if this could have some disadvantage on the remap.

there is something else which I don't like on the mmi if you go to servicing it shows only the next oil change  and that's about it (very poor ) not even indication for servicing other things like breakfluid or break pads for example . Not sure if I miss something but on my previous Bmw 325d from 2013 I could see much much more in the I drive system .

thanks

Rob

You're most welcome. Usually the main dealers keep the best of the used cars, any that don't meet their strict criteria goes off to car super markets etc. So you should have peace of mind in that regard.

Speak to Audi about the cambelt/chain. If chain then it should last 100k+ miles.

You can ask Audi to change the fuel filter. Have you tried euro car parts or your local motor factors?

The benefit of manual is that the gearbox should last the life of the car. Whereas auto gearboxes are more sensitive. I think the manual gearbox oil change interval is approx 60k miles but that's a guestimate.

Did Audi give you orbit ours of what other work the cars had like warranty work, brake fluid changes etc.

I bought Shell Helix 0W20 ultra professional together with Mann Oil filter and Air filter from Mann

  • 4 months later...

I use Quantum 0W20 longlife or shell 0W20 longline if not available, I would recommend that you use genuine or OEM equivalent filters i.e MANN Filters, dont fit cheap parts as they'llcause you more problems. I've had my 2015 C7 with 133000 on the clock for 3 years now with no problems other than a front wheelbearing and covered 30000 miles trouble free motoring, I would also advise a fuel additive something like archoil which you add ml to lots filled, and it's a fuel booster/cleaner too.

Oh and dont drive it like Miss Daisy 👍
