  1. Spot on , once service plan and warranty runs out I will be using the local German car Specialist, tend to know more than the Audi ‘Technicians’ anyway
  2. Yes the parts are cheap but the main dealer charges £150 an hour , I took it to my local garage and he charged me £50 an hour . I’m not paying a £100 an hour extra to sit in a fancy showroom with a free coffee machine .
  3. I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up Has the car got wet footwells? How old is the battery?
  4. I managed to find a place in Durham who took the component protection off and programme it to the car he checks to see if the vin number is ok for the unit to ensure it's not a stolen one , when that is done it's all go and sound is back on. £100 over the moon. The place is called north east vag adaptions , the bloke is canny too
  5. I bet the local lads would have offered you a free brew, I also bet they do a better job and wont be mincing about in immaculate boiler suits, fair play mate on supporting your local indy. Steve.
  6. Had the identical experience and came across your thread so I thought I’d try the same on my MMI… worked! saved me a lot of headaches as I couldn’t understand why I could only open my boot (even if the car was unlocked) by my key fob only. Anyway great advice 👍 Gary
  7. Thanks Gareth for tips, That's a shame, I was hoping I could make it work with the S line and smaller wheels easily. It's bizarre that comfort options were never available in these trim lines. I wonder if that's still the case today. I've heard it's quite expensive to replace those large alloys, and they're apparently easy to damage on our pothole ridden roads, so it's puzzling why so many people opted for them when these cars were bought new. I think the safest option would be to stick with an SE and try to find a decent example with good service history. I imagine SE seats must be at least half decent, it would be a deal breaker for me if they aren't. As for the rest of the options, I'd happily trade them for a comfortable ride. On the plus side an SE might be slightly cheaper compared to an S Line. JB
  8. Hi everyone, I recently faced an issue with logging into my Audi MMI account, which was quite frustrating as I rely on it for navigation, vehicle settings, and connected services. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the problem was due to outdated app credentials and a pending software update on my MMI system. Once I updated both the MMI software and the myAudi app, everything worked perfectly. Clearing the app’s cache and re-entering my login details also helped. I’m sharing this experience so others can resolve similar login issues quickly and enjoy seamless access to their Audi’s connected features again.
  9. No problems with the alternator were noticed. The battery charge remains high (80+%) at all times. I did not check the charging voltage physically, but according to VCDS, it is a constant 14+V. The car is used every day in the city, averaging 50-70 km. It also stays in the garage for about a week every two months, as I go on business trips. Upon my return from a business trip, the battery remains charged at 12.6 V. I will check the alternator charge with a multimeter today, but I don't think there will be any problems.
  10. Many thanks for your reply. I will raise this issue with my garage. As what happened to me if I had been on a motorway I bear to think what the consequences would have been. If there are other Q5 out there with the same problem and haven’t yet been detected they could end up in a dangerous situation.
  11. Tim. Forget about the oil filter. I inadvertently misled you because I failed to note the problem existed before the change. Oil pressure is the single most important factor in keeping the engine functional. Without it the engine will rapidly turn itself into a lump of scrap iron that will cost many thousands of punds to replace. Unless you have positive proof that the oil pressure is up to standard it would be foolish to continue using the car.
  12. Showing all the signs, and the door harness as you said. It's part of the door actuator, not a switch in the door shuts.
  13. Hello JB ( your proper name?) Your first paragraph certainly sums up Audi marketing - if you want the best of specs., you find them in the S Line etc., together with large wheels and low profile tyres, all aimed at road holding which of course every Audi buyer wants! Or do they? - as you are finding! I’m in the exact same camp as you, and I simply want a nice smooth ride, but I don’t think you will find that in the S Line - perhaps even with smaller wheels, allowing increased profiles. One requirement would be to look up the stats, on the ones you are interested in and check if they were available with optional 17 inch wheels. If they weren’t then it’s generally a no-go due to insurance implications. Another potential harsh ride consideration is to check whether the normal tyres are XL or not - if they are, that will adversely affect the ride quality. Build record printouts for particular cars are usually obtainable from dealers- I’d enquire at the Parts Dept. I really do know where you are coming from, and have been there before. If you do find the car you want, then also ask for a copy of the service record before purchase. FHS can be elusive once you have signed the purchase paperwork! Regards, Gareth. Please let us know how you get on.
  14. So Dave thinks it maybe a door switch too.
  15. Hello Jeffrey, Bit confused by ‘ lights work fine when operated manually…..rocker switch ( which one?) appears to do nothing’. I believe the switching of interior lights when the door/s are opened works from the door locks. Cabling within the flexible harness section twixt A post and door’s OK? Regards, Gareth.
  16. I bet that pained the branch manager.
  17. Hi just replace it they are cheap enough and at the top of the engine bay, easy peasy. STEVE.
  18. I didn’t need to do anything apart of removing the lower stock mount bolt and then use a bottle jack and a piece of tube over the bottle jack top to the stock top mount fitting bolt , using a pair of springs compresses to compress the spring evenly enough to pull out the rubber mount I’ve got to thank Spartacus for his write up . And mine s a Quattro too a
  19. Hi, I had the same problem on my 2017 a4 allroad last year, same place, o/s/r lower, I had mine replaced at an independent v w garage at just over £100. p.s. my brother, who has the identical car had his go as well on the o/s/r/ seems funny it is always the o/s/r. that goes.
  20. SOLVED This turned out to have a very simple solution. In the MMI CAR options there is a setting for tailgate. With it on the external switch is disabled and you can only open it with the fob. With it off the external switch is enabled. Hope that helps someone else. Cheers Keith
