Bit of advice....watch out for the hidden extras...insurance waivers, taking huge amounts for deposit from your credit card, etc. Other stories I know of are when they take a huge deposit and (mysteriously!) your car gets damaged in a bodged break in then they take the deposit and if you have the waiver insurance then you can claim it back retrospectively but they have the deposit money and they are happy with that outcome. Usually turns out to be someone tipped off by the car hire company that is behind it and especially if they are aware of where it is parked (villa, hotel, etc). Sometimes, it pays to organise the car from the UK and not out in Spain and take out the insurance waiver with it. Sorry to be pessimistic but I know of quite a few cases of this occurring.

I like Edd, and that is rich coming from me as I don't tend to like many TV 'Mechanics' or presenters who pretend to know about cars....but with Edd I can watch him working on cars and see he knows what he's doing and he generally comes over as a really nice guy.

That's a real problem you've highlighted there Gareth. I used to look at such information on the V5 but as you say, it's been consigned to the bin by DVLA. Had to check out a car for my sister last month and ran a Car Check on it for a couple of quid. This came back with not much more information than you can find elsewhere though....the useful link to check is the DVLA MOT History which does show location of MOT stations and also mileages and what it has failed on...very useful! Her car (a Toyota Aygo) turned out to have something like 300 miles over 1 year and then the next year 28k miles. After some investigation it appears that it was owned by an old lady and she didn't drive it much so gifted it to a younger relative who then used it for commuting but first thoughts are that there has been something dodgy going on in the past.

Could possibly be where the additional drive (AWD) is kicking in as the load is applied (assuming yours is equipped with the AWD option). I get a 'clunk' as the AWD kicks in on my CR-V and although not violent, it is noticeable and at least it lets you know it has shifted drive.

Hi John....I'm sure there is space on the stand but I would need Steve Q to confirm this. Either way, I would go ahead and book tickets and put down for displaying on the club stand anyway.
