  1. Hello Sam, Am I correct in believing you have completely changed the title and content of your original post, while I was responding to it, so my reply becomes totally meaningless?
  2. Hello Sam, Welcome and thanks for joining. The good news is that it becomes the seller’s responsibility to correct these two faults. The inconvenience is unfortunately in your court. As you will now appreciate, in theory, warning lights can be reset so they go off (usually for a very short period of time) but they will have first shown because there was an issue with that system. Fix fault and reset light -yes. Reset light and fault is fixed - no. Let’s treat simple things first - bulb light. Have you check all lights to see which one is not illuminated? If not, you need to do so. A cunning failure is where one of the two brake light bulbs ( if two fitted) fails. Check your lights at dust or dawn so you can better judge the brilliance. EML light - this will need diagnostics to detect the component that is at fault, and you should entrust this to the seller. Way forward - inform the seller of the two faults by E-mail, and ask what they are proposing to do to resolve the issues - apart from ‘resetting’ the lights. Without rambling on further, please come back to us with the reaction, and we can advise from there. Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Great Martin, I guess you are going to wait the short time to have the car registered ( if indeed you need to wait) beyond the wk9, so that it gets registered post 1st March on the new registration. Kind regards, Gareth.

I think that’s great Tony, and a welcome change to be notified of owners satisfaction. Many thanks for letting us know. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. That’s fine Marcin. You could ask the seller for photo of the plugs that come with the seat - they may just match your sockets - but understand the ‘is it worth it’ consideration. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. All sounds good and to your advantage Sarah. Sort journeys with - frequent stop/starts? - put additional strain on belts. Very much an engineering averse system is s/s. Good luck with getting the appropriate legal advice on how best to deal with this as quickly and efficiently as possible. Sorry to ask another question, but any finance involved in the purchase? If so formally notify them of this issue, since they obviously have a financial interest in the vehicle, and may aid your case. Please let us know how you get on Sarah - we are here to help if we can. Kind regards, Gareth.

Please fill your profile in fully so we all know what you have and where you are.

Hello Bill, You are very welcome to advertise it on here. Just list the important detail, add some photos, and the price you will accept for it. Guess you have listed it on EBay. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Sounds about right Macin, so you now have to decide whether all of this is worthwhile. It could well be that the additional connection/s are actually wired under your not-used socket, in which case it may be as simple as plugging in the additional plug which would come with the replacement seat -? At least you are now better armed to ask the right questions. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Many thanks Sarah, If this were mine, I would be dealing with this major issue in writing, rather than over the phone, and recording my day to day responses - or lack of them. It’s not too late to start, so let’s hope that the CAB can be of assistance. Confirmed full service history to the point where you bought it? What would be your typical journey usage with the car? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Sarah, I would like to say ‘Welcome to the forum’ but the reason for joining certainly isn’t any justification for that statement to apply. Oh dear. The bonus points in your argument sounds to be an impeccable service history ( providing it was so when you bought it), so your claim would not appear to be compromised. When you say Audi Customer Services has been shocking, have you formally written to then outlining this issue, and have they replied? To cut to the chase, I think you too would benefit from taking appropriate legal advice - start with CAB, and see if they can aid your case. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Sarah. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. No longer any age limit on belts, and a daft mileage limit. The forum has written about the pitfalls of this. Out of a matter of interest, do you allows allow stop/start to be enabled?
  12. Hello David, Azharul never returned to the forum since he was advised that he couldn’t have access to Mark’s phone number. I would suggest you send him a PM, and hopefully he may reply. Back to your issue:- under any circumstances where you have multiple warning lights illuminated, my first port of call is to eliminate the battery as being an offender - on the basis of carrying out free/low cost assessments first. Halfords (shops) should be able to do that while you wait. If found to be substandard, it would be to your advantage to let the forum know before buying one. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Marcin, Manufacturers are now canny, and are quite happy to screw harness manufacturers to the wall to save a few pence by not incorporating more wiring and plugs than are needed for your model specification. Having said that, with your age of car?? So you will need to move your seat back as far as possible, and see if you have ‘spare’ plugs anywhere within that area. If not, you are likely to need to make up some harnessing and plugs. Removing seats:-always leave the battery disconnected for 30 mins, before disconnecting any under seat plugs - to minimise the risk of setting any bags off. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Thanks Jason, but aren’t the pressure monitoring TPMS sensors within the tyre - attached to the inner section of the valve? Re. ABS sensors affecting this operation, and ABS sensors requiring renewing just like brake wear sensors -? Really? I think you will find that ABS sensors are generally ‘over sensitive’ and will throw up the warning when they get anywhere near to being unserviceable. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Hello Sue, Welcome, many thanks for joining, and sorry to hear you have had an issue Did your belt continue to ‘operate’ despite the bolts coming loose ( on tensioner?). Did you have the full assembly renewed when this happened? If not, I would strongly advise you do. Regrettably, we never heard anything further from Pippy, so we assume she had to make some considerable payment before handing her car back, and receiving her overdue new one. If there is a lesson here, it lies within the fact that there maybe a short term financial gain in getting these vehicles serviced during warranty, away from the main dealer ( and I certainly don’t have any allegiance to them), but it can prove to be far more costly in the long run, as the good will lever becomes bendable! Once of of warranty? There is little to gain by entrusting servicing to the main dealer. I would rather use a trusted local garage - using quality parts - who will take more time to ensure it’s done well, and not to a labour-time limit. Really hope you came out of your problem without too much hassle. Perhaps you could let us know. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. There seems to have been an excess of dialogue on this issue, and I can add only two more points - hopefully not with too much detail:- If your reverse bleeper are working then it’s reasonable to believe your reverse switch is operating - as Cliff said from the outset. Have you checked the wiring within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate? This is a favourable place for wires to fracture - particularly in cold conditions. Oops, sorry another question- have you checked for voltages and continuity at the bulb holder? Personally, I would now consider engaging an hour’s services with an auto electrician if I was in your situation. Anyway…. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Many thanks indeed Mark. I appreciate that diagnostics can be an expensive necessity in some cases, but it can often save money by hopefully ensuring serviceable parts are not changed unnecessarily. Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Welcome, and many thanks for joining Ryan. I’m sure you will enjoy the car, but please keep in touch if we can assist you. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Hello Dave, I guess you have the appropriate tyre size you will need for the 18 inch wheels - the profile will obviously be greater. This information should be on your tyre pressure sticker. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Torque wrench and/or torque angle gauge?
  21. Hello Alex, Manufacturers claimed figures are notoriously optimistic. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Welcome John, I’m concerned that you have actually renewed two components due to it being suggested on here that they could be suspect. From my point, and I think the majority of responders on here, possible culprits are suggested on a test/confirm suspect/eliminate basis. Did you confirm that both the battery and sensor were ar fault before you renewed them? I am sorry to hear that you are still have problems, and one question I would ask is - have you had the alternator output checked. Please John, I’m not suggesting that you change it! Just get the output checked. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Some such ‘live’ points can indeed be on a timed system. Audi’s?? Even the radios are on a short timer on some marques, so you can’t even listen to the radio after a couple of minutes. Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Hello Simon, It could be as simple as a bad connector under the seat, but don’t (in caps) disconnect anything. ’ I have only owned…. just over two weeks’. This is obviously a safety issue, and you should return the vehicle for the seller for correction. Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. Hello Jason, Sorry to contradict, but as stated, I too read about audible signals, but not necessarily so, as the song goes. It may work for you, but I’ve not be successful. Guaranteed way would be to carryout diagnostics to find the culprit. Re. removing the senders, you are likely to find they go in in compressible ears, and these have to be compressed to remove. Removing the electrical connectors are again likely to lead you a dance. Kind regards, Gareth.
