Sportster Tyres
Hello Stuart, The definitive answer lies in your handbook or inside the fuel cap where you will find tyre pressures and sizes. Pardon my ignorance of your vehicle but Sportster isn’t know to me, but would I be right that this 4 wheel drive? If so, fitting new tyres on the front with part worn on the back would not be good news for the 4WD system. Regards, Gareth.

A3 /S3. 19inch trapezoid wheel with new tyre
Thanks Paul, I’ve removed your phone number since is an open forum. Interested parties can PM you. Just to clarify, is the tyre brand new and unused? The photos indicate it’s ‘been on the road’. Regards, Gareth.

Sudden loss of power steering with fault codes.
Welcome Colin, and sorry to hear of your issue. ‘….. I’ve checked the battery and it seems OK…..’. If that decision was arrived at by a simple voltage check with a multimeter, then it’s effectively a meaningless ‘not-under-load’ assessment of its efficiency. My first port of call would be to get a proper test done on the battery - Halfords stores (shops) do this - and you should then have a report on the cold cranking amps etc. and an overall % efficiency. If it is found to be sub standard then if you have any respect for your wallet, come back to us and we can advise on where to get branded batteries at competitive prices. Well worth getting the alternator output checked at the same time. A new battery would need to be coded to the car. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

TPMS valve stems and Ring RTC6000 air compressor
Hello Alex, I have found Ring appliances to be better than most, but I would never depend on pressure gauges used on any brand. Solution:- By yourself a c£10 digital tyre pressure gauge from Halfords, inflate the tyres to a few p.s.i. over the required pressure and reset with the digital gauge - which is capable of controlled deflation. Job sorted! Regards, Gareth.

Crying inside
Thanks for updating the forum Sam. Perhaps you haven’t told us about the second professional - or have I missed it? Now knowing what we do, it seems strange that you should ask for the opinions of non-professionals on here- whose opinions you value less - when professional opinions would have been readily available to you. Perhaps it’s good to have a shoulder to cry on. Regards, Gareth.

Rear mud guards.
Now wouldn’t it be great Bob if you were able to provide the forum with a link to where you purchased these so that other members could benefit from your experience, and quickly solve their problem. That really is why we spend our time on here giving guidance to others who hopefully benefit from it.

Appreciate all of that Mark, but the acid test is whether a responsible driver of a performance car would take any risk in driving such a car with visible damage to the extent shown, particularly since it will boil down to an increased potential for failure vs. some tens of £s to get it sorted via. the insurance cover held. This question is asked on the basis of a ‘ Professional opinion’ of ‘…well I would, but it’s up to you’.

Hello Dan, I think interested parties would appreciate more information in your advert to reduce the risk of undue inconvenience on both sides. Could you please add, on a point by point basis:- Details of service history, how many owners, how long have you owned it, recent work carried out, taxed, MOT and road legal for trial, ULEZ compliant etc.?? Importantly - price you require for it. Regards, Gareth.

A6 C7 Clutch release bearing failure
Apologies, I cannot answer your question Peter, but hopefully someone may. My interest would lie in the make of the first part that failed after 8 days, and more importantly the make of the latest part fitted. Perhaps you can let us know. Regards, Gareth.

Thanks for the update Sam. The replies to date suggest the tyre should not continue to be used. Interesting to now know that you also have tyre insurance. If so, does it cover such damage caused under your circumstances? Again just a personal view:- you seem to be knocking yourself about for something that has been done and cannot be reversed. I would be concentrating my mind on the best way forward to ensure the safety of your family, yourself and other road issues. Do you really want to run the risk of having far more to worry about than the cost of a tyre?

Engine oil?
Thanks James, If you can give us answers to the couple of questions asked, then we should be able to advise on on-going servicing.

‘Morning Sam, Really sorry to hear this, and probably no consolation, but I guess the majority of us have done something similarly silly during our years of driving. Fortunately here, the only one which is in pain is your wallet. Personal opinion and apologies for being negative, but I doubt if any tyre retailer would sanction its continued use. Today will be a better day - as they say. Regards, Gareth.
