  1. Welcome Sharon and thanks for joining. To try to boil this down for forum members:- Can we take it you have already sought advice from a qualified accountant who has been able to give you all the necessary advice associated with your personal situation? Can we take it you are looking at the self charging hybrid? Have you checked whether Audi are still producing a diesel model? Final question:- Are you asking the simple question - Does the hybrid cost less/mile to run than a diesel? Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Isn’t the company funding your day to day business mileage then?
  2. I understand your desire to want to try an M17 spline Johnny, but please don’t go there - you will regret it! I think you now have to resort to leaving those who are correctly equipped do this job. Long levers in their our right have already got you into trouble - please don’t compound it. Impact wrench is essential.
  3. Please give us the links to them Steve.
  4. Welcome Jonathan and sorry to hear of your plight. In my experience, the proper way to remove these is with a high powered air operated impact wrench. Obviously too late now, but I guess your suggestion would now be your best option, since I can’t see you being able to drill the head off that. Sounds as you say, it sounds like welding the spline socket onto the bolt head - at a garage equipped to do so, then asking them to try their impact wrench on it. I take it you were intending to replace the hub complete with bearing rather than trying to fit a new bearing into the old hub-? I think you will find the ABS sender is integral with the hub, so if you don’t replace the whole hub now, you will find yourself doing so again before the bearing wears out. Try pricing a Febi hub ( with bearing) at Parts in Motion at Exeter. Well worth assessing the condition of/replacing the back plate at the same time since these do get rusty. Keep us posted on how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Think the Febi hubs come with a new bolt.
  5. Thanks whoever you are, and although the forum is very welcoming to new members, I am as wary of dealing with so called un-named persons, as you are about giving your name, so regrettably - impass - and I wish you well in getting your issues sorted. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Thanks Jon, but is this really a 2024 car??
  7. Many thanks Terry, Did you try Parkers guide valuation (if still operating)? It is likely to be a ‘paid for’ service with a nominal charge, but should provide you with a mileage adjustment valuation. They used to be specific, and give you alternative prices for buying from a dealer, selling privately, and expected parts exchange valuations. Alternative would be to list it on EBay and see how it runs. Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Thanks for joining Jon. Are you really intending to get this new 2024 performance car mapped, and invalidate the quarantine-?
  9. Children/ drinks in car/ mess in car?? Seriously, are they not able to get enough fluid inside them before they get in the car then, and how unreasonable is it to say to them - Thou shall not drink in the car - right - got it? You can drink whatever you want once you are out of the car. Thimple! as out little standy up beings would say!
  10. Hello Shelley, Sorry it’s worked out like this for you, but as Cliff says, at least it has indeed worked out. Stress, hassle, inconvenience, out of pocket etc.etc. All Very valid reasons not to take up further battles to attempt to recoup your outlay and compensation for the above to date. In my book, it really boils down to what stress value and potential further cost implications you place on your principles. The dealer/ Audi will have far bigger guns than you or the average owner can economically stretch to and gamble with, in attempts to gain compensation. In the end, it will all boil down to ‘is it worth confronting big guns in the hope you may get some recompense’ ? Quite fairly, only you can make that decision. Whatever it is, the forum genuinely hopes it works out for you in the quickest possible time. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Cutting to the case Kevin, and solving your issue at zero cost - ban the children from drinking in the car - not too much of an ask -? Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Sorry you aren’t getting any responses so far Steve. Have you tried local specialists for the advice you need? Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Apologies for saying it as it is Edward, but for the very clever chap you obviously are to be able to carryout all the work you have (at great expense), you are acting a bit ( very big bit!) daft with this. Cliff sums it up far better than me. All I can add is:- Absolutely, A verbal agreement is not worth the paper it’s written on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Thanks Terry, You best guide will be to search Autotrader for similar models. You could also get some valuation on- line from Parkers, but don’t expect to achieve values that dealers advertise at, since you will not be offering, finance, guarantees, and part exchange facilities. I may be worth keeping in mind that it’s not all about price, but important consideration would be desirability - I.e. you have to find someone who actually wants to buy one at a time when sales seem to have slowed down considerably.
  15. Hello Adam and Cliff, Apologies for jumping in on this, particularly since my suggestion may not be valid:- Are you sure the reservoir cap is always fully tightened? If so, it might be worth investing in a new one, since the system would have been pressure tested without your cap- so a faulty cap would have been excluded from the equation. Just a thought. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Hello Daryl, As an ‘Established Member’ we would have hoped you would have updated the forum on how you got on, and if you followed the advice given when you sought that advice. Not to do so isn’t really good form, but I thought it worth asking again -for the last time! I’m sure your experiences will help others in the future, and this is the only way we a get feedback which shud help others. Many thanks, and look forward to hearing from you shortly. Gareth. p.s. You did say ‘any help greatly appreciated ‘… but it doesn’t seem so from your reaction so far.
  17. Your call of course David, but as said, I would certainly get another quote before committing if it were mine - that’s one heck of a lot of money.
  18. Thanks David, and apologies for my geography? Ways forward:- ‘Recently just bought’ :- did the car come with very recent MOT at the time of purchase? Was that MOT arranged by the seller? If yes to either or both, then you have 2 options:- Submit the car for another MOT at a station of your choice, but not one recommended by the garage who you used to assess it. Inform the seller of the issues found and ( if a trader sale) request they correct these defects at their cost - if the second MOT declares the components to warrant a failure. Perhaps you could keep us updated David. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Welcome David, and sorry to hear of the issues with the car. Is it just the one garage who has inspected the car, declared these parts need renewing (both sides?) and quoted you for their replacement? We take it the quote you have received is for supply-and-fit, and if so, would you like to share that quote with us? If this were mine, there would be a couple of things I would want to do first:- (1) Get the car assessed by another ( perhaps independent Audi specialist) to confirm the work is required to be carried out now - and obtain their quotation. (2) I would question - at both garages - what brand of parts are going to be used. Vital information, since with some brands from a certain volume motor factor chain, you could well find your self repeating the work next year! (3) Is Denny in NI? If so, when did the car go through its ‘Government run’ MOT, and were these faults found then? Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Mileage David?
  20. Mark, You are being warned for ‘Post and run’ tactics, whereby you post a plea for help, but don’t return to the forum to respond to questions asked. Any future posts will need to be considered by the Moderators before being shown. Moderators.
  21. Hello Al, Air intake pipes I guess, in photo 1. Photo2 -? Have a look at LLL Parts website and you should find part numbers there as well. EBay would be a good source, and you can ask the sellers if they have what you want - search Audi A3 breaking - and limit it down from there. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Sorry, but that is not ‘Agreed Value’. That is what you think (in caps) it is worth. Totally different things. Still, it’s not my car, not my expenditure and effort Edward, and I don’t think I can spell it out any clearer, so I wish you well with your belief that you are indeed covered for that value. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Welcome Ian. Have you owned the car from new? If not, I suspect that it has reverted to the location of previous owners, for some reason. Interesting. Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Sounds good Edward. So we take it that the £6,000 valuation has been agreed ( most important part) and confirmed with the insurer, rather than you just stating that you value it at that figure-? Under this ‘Agreed value’ insurance you would normally need to complete a Condition Form, and provide photos that the insurer would assess, before confirming that they would pay that amount out - without question - in the event of a total loss. Can we take it that process will form part of the insurance-?
  25. Hello Michael, Regrettably you now have to be warned for employing ‘Post and run’ tactics, and not retuning to the forum to answer questions in relation to your advert. If you wish to post in the future, your post will have to be sanctioned by the Moderators before being displayed. Moderator.
