  1. Thanks Graeme, ‘…nor do I think Audi U.K. would take much notice, without being satisfied that people have first gone though their dealership’. Most important point missed here Graeme I’m afraid - hasn’t everyone on here already complained to their dealership - without avail? Hence my suggestion of an amalgamated - we haven’t got anywhere with our dealership - approach to Audi U.K. Thank you David for progressing this via. Watchdog. I can’t really understand why no one else has tried that. Good on you. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Thanks for joining Stephen, I’ve amended you thread title.
  3. Well there you go then Graeme. ‘Contractual arrangements are with the dealer and not Audi….’ Fair point, but your case in point proves that the dealerships won’t do anything without reference to Audi U.K., so really, you blow your own argument out of the water. Not my problem, but the forum is happy to share experiences bad and good, and indeed can make hopefully constructive and logical suggestions to move progress, but….. Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Hello Richard, nice to hear from you again. I could be wrong, and hopefully others will be along and give you to correct story, but I believe Autoglass and other windscreen fitting companies fit aftermarket windscreens, and not the far more expensive ‘main dealer’ ones. Having said that, I would think there are few main dealers who would fit windscreens as opposed to using specialists - such as Autoglass - so there you go, you complete the full circle! The capability of these windscreens correctly reacting to automatic lights, cameras etc.?? What I did hear about them was not to be too surprised if they show stone chips at a rate of knots - ‘softer’ than originals-? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Thanks Kevin, You can request ( via an e-Mail to the dealer) a print out of the on-line service history - well worth having as hard copy for your file. I also request copies of service invoices - they can supply these with previous owner details blanked out. There is nothing like having hard copies of evidence of full service history. We take it you didn’t buy it from a main dealer Kevin-? Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Many thanks Kevin. Reason for no books? - as said, probably ex lease, and driver probably just wasn’t interested. Did you manage to acquire copies of the service history? Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks Kevin, but I’ve given the advice needed - go to your local main dealer and compile a list of what it comprised of. I think you are unlikely to find (and not miss) one set on EBay that is totally complete. Way forward:- Bid on a set which looks in good condition, and appears to have most of the books you would expect. Buy this, then take it to your dealer and purchase what they then tell you is missing. Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. So no reaction to my suggestion of one particular poster coming forward and coordinating this as a concerted effort, and approaching Audi Customer Services as a group -?
  9. Welcome Alastair, but can I ask why you are replying to a 6 year old thread?
  10. Any update for us yet Peter?
  11. Hello All, I don’t think I’ve joined in on this topic, but can see that the problem is affecting a significant number of contributors - probably each of which is rightly taking it up with their respective dealers - in isolation. Can I suggest that every contributor on here who is affected by this, makes a PM contact with others who have posted of their issues, with a view to gathering as many into that group as possible. Once you have a sensible number in the group, someone compiles a list of say Year, Model, Reg. No., Supplying dealer, their contact details etc., and submits this block listing of complaints to Audi Customer Services. At least you would all be singing from the same hymn sheet. Anyone prepared to step forward and coordinate this? Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Welcome Kevin and thanks for joining. I don’t think the absence of the handbook pack in your car is an isolated occurrence, and seems to be not unheard of, particularly with ex lease cars, where the company leasing them can tend to hold them at their offices etc. Simple way around this is to pay a visit to your local dealer’s Parts Dept. and have a chat about what the pack should include. Make a list, then scan EBay and confirm what, if anything, is missing from that particular listing. To supplement that knowledge, someone on here will hopefully come up with a response from you. Would any/all/most A6 (of appropriate age) owners please reply to Kevin’s question - thanks. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Worth searching EBay for a copy of the appropriate sales brochure. We take it you have requested copy of the computerised service history -? Also asked for copies of invoices -? The dealer should supply them, having blanked out owner details.
  13. No I’m not sure, but you have to eliminate the battery before spending on more expensive diagnostics and repairs.
  14. Welcome Dimiat, Simple thing first - get the battery condition checked before doing anything else. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Did you get any further with this Daryl?
  16. Welcome Mark, ’…rarely go above 85mph….’ naughty boy - Plod will be after you, since some follow this forum! Only joking - I think. Very difficult question to answer since you are looking at the ideal - but rarely achieved - magic formula ( which might have included longevity). What end of the price scale are you concentrating on? Premium range? One of the main tyre retailers - Tyre Leaders?? - lists the ratings you enquire about from customer feedback I think. Bear in mind that your tyres will probably be XL load rating for the estate. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. The effects of Northern rain Chris? Expect horns to be rusty if you find them there.
  18. Very often behind the front bumper - perhaps with grilles in front of them - inboard of the corners and low down. If they are there, they usually get subjected to the elements and fail.
  19. Hello Stephen, Do you have a little ‘free play’ in the pedal when you depress it? If the pedal feels normal then bleeding won’t make any difference to it slipping. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Great choice of brands Stephen.
  21. Hello and welcome Thomas, My strong advice would be not to fiddle with anything on this car, but to e-mail ( so that you have a record) the seller, and outline your concerns, and ask them to rectify the issue. If they cannot fix it to your satisfaction, then you should have an option of returning the car within 30 days for a full refund. Let’s hope they can fix it for you. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Any replies for us yet Rex?
  23. It would be nice if you could come back to us Chris.
  24. Thanks Stephen, What was the brand of the clutch kit you were quoted for and intend to buy? Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. OK Jim, Great - you want to trace and buy back your old car, and are prepared to pay +£1000 over price for it. It’s been over 4 years since you first enquired on here, and we take it you have not had any leads from the range of members current at that time, or those current now. I guess you can now conclude on one on here knows where it is. Prepared to spend +£1000 over the top to buy it back? Recommendation:- spend part of that with a Private Investigator. That should probably get you the information you seek. Please let us know if you have any success. Regards, Gareth.
