Engine oil light on
Yes, we know it’s a 19 year old car from your profile, so what does your handbook say?

Dual Mass flywheel
Hello Jeffrey, What was the mode of your clutch failure at 51k miles? I ask, since you have now covered about the same mileage on the replacement clutch. ‘Passat on 140K miles… on same DMF’. Clutch components changed on that car at any time? Regards, Gareth.

Engine oil light on
Sorry to drag this out Beany, but I think we all have your best interests in mind here. What interests me is that this 19 year old car understandably has a dipstick, but by your interpretation ( and you are possibly right) also has an oil level sensor-? Might well be correct in those days of engineers rather than accountants designing vehicles. However, I think in your own interest, it would be well worth consulting your handbook for the definitive answer here. Perhaps you can let us know how you get on so we can tie this thread up. Regards, Gareth.

Engine oil light on
Where is it going to be serviced then, and any reason for delaying it for 4 months?
-
Engine oil light on
Just to confirm - this is the oil level light, and not the oil pressure light-? If level light, then yes, it likely to be the sensor or its connector. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

White exhaust smoke
Now that we know that, I think it would be wise to consider this as a potential (diesel) fuelling issue. Even if it is, I cannot see it would be connected to an oil change. Worth search for a local diesel specialist. Regards, Gareth.

2015 2.0 TDI oil change
Thanks James, Where do you normally get it serviced when home, and when was the oil and filter last changed? That information should help decide whether it’s practical to wait until you get home. Regards, Gareth.

Spares genuine
Thanks Steve, So the parts aren’t obsolete then, as inferred in your second post, it’s just that (understandably) Google didn’t come up with dealer prices for new parts -?

Audi A6 C8 2022, new car, engine warning light
Thanks Jim, We can only wish you good luck in getting it fixed properly and quickly. Are MP providing you with an alternative car while this work is being carried out? Once everything has been sorted, if it were mine, I would be ‘investing’ in a proper service at an independent, based on MP’s service was likely to have been an oil and filter change, possibly using most economical products. Ask your chosen independent to renew the air filter as well - highly unlikely to have been changed. Regards, Gareth.

White exhaust smoke
Apologies for jumping in here, but are you looking for any connection between an oil change and your smoke situation? If you are concerned that the ‘smoke’ is due to coolant entering the combustion - e.g. head gasket issues - then it would consume coolant, which you say it doesn’t. Condensation would be my conclusion, sight unseen, during this high humidity period. One question:- does the ‘smoke’ smell of diesel? Regards, Gareth.

Spares genuine
Many thanks for the great work Richard. We are, as Steve Q says, a helpful group on here, but it seems the information you required SteveRS5 was understandably just a phone call away. I’m still confused since you said ‘…it’s like the spares don’t exist now’. So did you indeed contact an Audi dealer, and did they tell you that? That of course is pivotal to your situation. Regards, Gareth.

LIMITED EDITION AUDI S3 (written off)
Hello Anisha, I’ve removed your phone number, since this is an open forum. Interested parties can PM you on here. What insurance loss category has this been placed into? I think it would help is more distinct photos were substituted for the current indistinct ones. Perhaps you could do that. Is the car a ‘Limited Edition’, or ‘Special Edition’? Regards, Gareth.

Spares genuine
If (in caps) the parts are obsolete ( which would surprise) then the insurers are likely to write it off, since they cannot repair it, so is the parts cost of obsolete parts a relative question here? Could you be more explicit in what you actually mean, and if the parts are available new, what is the relevance of the cost of the parts? The insurers will calculate whether it becomes an economical repair or not. If not, you could request keeping the salvage and getting an independent repair carried out. Is this car still with you or a repairer, or has it already been collected by Copart or similar?

Spares genuine
Are you talking second hand or new? If you are , you are into many hundreds, four figures even. Just check with Audi? If secondhand, register your ‘wants’ with on-line breaker websites such as Partsfinder - there are more. Regards, Gareth.

Knocking whilst turning and other
Now that that is clear, my guess would now be a broken spring end as one of Richard's suggestions, since you have the knock when stationary - minimising the possibility of it being moving suspension links/bushes etc. Regards, Gareth.

Knocking whilst turning and other
Thanks Tom, Can we get this absolutely clear:- Car is stationary - handbrake on - and engine is running. If you turn the wheel from lock to lock without moving the car, do you hear the noise under that condition?

Thanks Jim, Apologies - my confusion. Let’s hope the A6 gets sorted to your satisfaction. Please let us know how things progress. Regards, Gareth.

Engine Operating Temp
Barn door - thermostat, as starting point. No, it shouldn’t be like it is.

Audi A6 C8 2022, new car, engine warning light
Thanks Jim, This confusing! You state the car to be an A6 with 28k miles, yet your latest post states A3 and 800 miles-? (sorry see later) A two owner car in 3 years ( making you the 3rd owner) does not seem ideal. Most important:- how long has the previous owner owned it? You possibly cannot answer that unless you actually saw the V5. If this turns out to be short, then bear in mind that the car may have been previously rejected. Normally main dealers would retain such stock for retail. Probable cause of tyre failure would be damage. Condition and brand of remaining tyres - not answered. Can now see replacement car was an A3 - apologies- odd that a ‘brand new A3’ would have a Nexan tyre, but…. Is the A6 at an Audi dealer? Have you checked the A6 on VCheck yet? If not, I would be checking it out pronto to see how long the previous owner owned it. If short term - worry! Please keep us updated. Regards, Gareth.

Knocking whilst turning and other
Hello Tom, Is the knocking audible when stationary with engine running, and/or on the move? Noise on which side? Brand of driveshaft fitted? Regards, Gareth.

Engine Operating Temp
Hello Kev, sounds like a fault thermostat. Regards, Gareth.
