Hello Iby, I guess you have worked out/taken advice on the correct width and profile (very low) you will need to retain the correct rolling diameter of these large wheels - ? Kind regards, Gareth.

Brand of parts used Paul?

Thanks Steve, I think if the OP reads the responses to the searched-for posts, he may find they were fitted but are just not working, but he needs to establish that first. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Fiona, A lot of money? Yes. Cheaper than I would have thought from Audi? Yes. What sort of price are you thinking of paying? £600 divided by the hoped for 5 additional years service, equates to £120 a year - not bad? Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello ‘J’ (real name?). Have you carried out a simple search on the forum? Recent post with the same question. Kind regards, Gareth.

Link doesn’t work for me. Diagnosing noises without having the car to examine is very much a black art, and falls under the heading of guessing! I suggest you book this in with a trusted local independent - without delay. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello David, As you say, BMA 139 is currently on a 2019 A5 with probably 50k miles on it now. May have been placed on the car as recent as Feb. of this year, or the car may have changed hands at this time. Sorry Cliff, DVLA will no longer pass on correspondence. Regrettably David, there is a hard set of economics to contend with here, and buying the number back would probably cost you a significant chunk of the car’s value, and would not be an economic proposition. I take it you bought it after the number had been sold, and a previous owner has reaped the benefits. What I would say, with plenty of experience of dealing with cars of this age, is to keep in mind that the value of bread and butter pre war cars is plummeting, mainly due to those who were interested in them having fallen out of the tree and the demand is on its knees. Ask me how I know!! I would be wary of spending too much on this car, since regrettably the (even DIY) outlay is likely to render it uneconomic. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. BMA 139 would have been registered in Chester around August 1934.

Hello Fiona, Where is the £600 new quote coming from, and how does that compare with Audi’s estimate? ‘….totally unrealistic……..’ Have you had a quote for removing old and fitting replacement, and are you also catering for some new bushes and probably suspension links which are likely to need replacing. Take it we are talking rear rather than front subframe -? Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Simple things first:- New battery coded to car? Make of new battery as a matter of interest?

Hello again Fiona, Seems you are still chasing the secondhand route then. Do you intend to investigate the IM Axles route? Figures:- Ford KA from IMA, with heavier duty spring pads was less than £200. Ford price c£1400. If you are going secondhand then I’m struggling to see how a part number will be the answer to the maiden’s prayer, since it’s highly unlikely that the part number will have survived as a readable number on the secondhand part you are intending to buy - so what good is it to you? Only possible scenario where it could be useful would be where the seller (scrap yard?) has access to part numbers via. a VIN enquiry. In which situation- he inputs your VIN and obtains your subframe part no. then does the same with the breaking vehicle, and compares the two for compatibility - in which case he doesn’t need you to tell him! Secondhand? You buy one and yours is removed and it’s found the replacement isn’t identical - what then?? I think it was Stevey Y on here who referred to a part number retrieving website called LLL?? Am I right? Is it still operating? Kind regards, Gareth.

Welcome and thanks for joining Fiona, Secondhand subframes?? - you could end up buying your own! Have you tried IM (I think) Axles. They manufacture new subframes for some vehicles - Audi A3-? but certainly worth investigating? We have bought from them for a family member’s Ford, and the quality is better than Ford’s original, and at a snip at the price. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

Please come back to us when you can be bothered to fill in your profile properly. Come on Audi quality joke, are you trying to have a joke on us, on a weekend and requesting free advice, without so much as a please or thank you, and you can’t even be bothered to spend anything more than the minimum effort to ask. Not on! Perhaps I should point out that my reaction is far from our normal style on here, but….

Welcome Vanfan. Do I believe that is your name? No , - even a small amount of wisdom would direct me to question that pretty obvious one, but….! Wales? Big place is Wales, but if you are within travelling distance of Jack Smith Trimmers at Swansea, then it could be worth while making contact re. your dropped rear window. If you aren’t, then I’ll leave it to you to Google suitable assistance in your locality. Perhaps you would keep us posted of how you get on Vagfan. Kind regards, Gareth.

Welcome Paul and thanks for joining. No doubt you would know, or be able to find out if all three are identical or not. If they are identical - option:- Buy one from Audi, then buy 2 matched tensile strength ones from on-line suppliers such Kay’s. Appreciating that buying from Audi will not be the most economical route, it will be the safest, and factoring in the labour-free DIY replacing, it’s always better to ‘invest’ in the known correct parts. Kind regards, Gareth.

WINTER TYRES FOR A4
Magnet replied to B PLUMMER's topic in Audi Parts and Accessories For Sale & Wanted
Apologies for the rant, but this Post and Run attitude is beginning to get to me, along with those who join, post a question, return to the forum - presumably to read the replies that regular contributors have spent time and consideration replying to, and then Zilch - no response - boo bar kiss my posterior! Possibly just me-? but is it time to consider introducing a bit of programming to alert non responders to respond, and if no responses in x time, delete their membership, and flag them for needing approval if returning to the forum seeking help at sometime in the future? Similar for those who find it difficult to acknowledge helpful responses with at least ‘Like’ a thread response - ? I appreciate that what was once common decency can get diluted over the generations, but I’m sorry to say that in comparing experiences on other forums, this one would rank very high in it’s apparent ingratitudes! Last bit for the moment:- the clever dickies who think completing their profile before posting is not for them to waste their time on:- consider completing every profile field a necessity. Yes, I know the possibility of inputting any rubbish, but….. OK, rant over. Was it worth it??? Will anything change for the better?? Don’t know. The rest of my day is definitely going to be positive! Peed-off-at-the-moment, Gareth. -
Notice you have been back to the forum Tom - answer for us?

Rear bumper replacement part number (A3 2010 3dr 1.6)
Magnet replied to steveyeu's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
I have found that you can’t always depend on on-line factor data to clearly identify the exact year Steve. Even my preferred Parts in Motion comes up with inaccurate dating on occasions Steve (Q). Apologies, but I’m afraid I’ve joined Confused.com on this one! -

I don’t think I can say anything more constructive! Got to give up now. -
Rear bumper replacement part number (A3 2010 3dr 1.6)
Magnet replied to steveyeu's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Sorry Steve, but I’m beginning to get a little confused, since all indications are - from your first sentence- that you aren’t positive about what model you have. The detail is coming through rather sketchy, and that isn’t helping, so please tell us:- Do you know what model you have? Do you have an existing (or remains of?) a current rear bumper to visually compare what is available on EBay? Re aftermarket bumper suppliers - have you done a Google search for such? Kind regards, Gareth. -
Rear bumper replacement part number (A3 2010 3dr 1.6)
Magnet replied to steveyeu's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Thanks Steve, I think we are now better equipped by knowing exactly what you are looking for. I would revert to my EBay recommendation. Have you had issues with being supplied with incorrect secondhand parts via. EBay, as opposed to new-aftermarket parts? I ask, since I think it would be unlikely to find sellers of secondhand body panels paying much respect for part numbers - if indeed they will be visible at all on panels. A small amount of visual research on EBay, should narrow down the years which your model bumper fits, then you can further refine your search to things like the possibly separate lower inserts which might vary depending on exhaust differences for varying engine options. Sorry, I cannot help further, since I feel your quest for a part number may not be the answer to the maiden’s prayer for you. Having said that, I think reference to a website LLL -? may come up with something. Stevey Y on here should be more knowledgeable on this that me. Kind regards, Gareth. -
Thanks for coming back on this Ian, If it were mine, and having respect for my wallet, I would consider removing the car from the Audi dealers pending getting the battery efficiency checked. 25k over 5 years ‘….. don’t think it’s the battery…’ such low usage is actually just what does adversely affect batteries. Not my car Ian, so obviously I can only treat a problem as if it were mine, and go from first principles and eliminate the basics first by a no/low cost procedure. Kind regards, Gareth.
