Welcome Oskar, I would think there should be a coolant temperature sensor on it, which signals the correct mixture to the ECU dependent on coolant temperature. Affected by ambient? Does it smell of excess petrol when it does start? You could try E5 rather than E10. Regards, Gareth.

Sorry to add to your burden, but if you are involved in an accident, prior to this problem being sorted, your insurance may be declared null and void.

Welcome William, I think the answer is simple:- Do not drive the car until it’s been plugged in to diagnose the problem, and then having that problem corrected. Yes, members could suggest it could be this/that, but guesses they would be, and you could get the suggested parts renewed, with a hope it sorts it, but….. Thanks Tom, My advice would be not to fiddle with this new car, but to return it to the/a main dealer and get it corrected under warranty.OK, a 50 mile trip ( no one nearer?). Apologies for jumping in Steve. I very much follow Steve’s views on this - unlimited time interval is asking for trouble. However, I would guess ‘the trade’ would (understandably?) following Audi’s current recommendation, and it’s unlikely that they would fit a new belt (this engine is belt driven at that time?) ‘within the deal’. Taking this as a strong possibility, and appreciating the car is not yet 5 year old, I would suggest you wait until it is, then decide who you going to use to fit it, and most importantly, what make of parts would ensure a good job is done. Hello Sulaimaan, Where have you looked for service history? Would you be buying it from a dealer or privately? How long has the current registered owner owned it. Have you checked the on-line MOT histories? Have run run an HPI type check on it? I’ve just used VCheck at just £9.99 - very comprehensive report. Not sure about the 2.0 TFSi, but I believe 2011 was within the year band of skinny piston rings and high oil consumption. Please come back to us with some answers. Regards, Gareth.

Hello Sam, I bought a set of bespoke carpet mats for our non-Audi quite a a few years back from Carmats4U ( still operating I believe). You could specify the quality - I think I chose a quality near the top, and they didn’t disappoint. In fact they were transplanted into a newer non-Audi and are still good. If the boot is open, then the car will not shut down, and so any readings you take will be meaningless. As I said, car can take in excess of 30 mins to go to sleep. Use light insulated cables to set up fly leads off the battery, then close the boot lid. Measure current draw once car has been locked and left for 30 mins. My view is that you would be wise to now engage the services of a local mobile auto electrician, before something goes wrong.

The make of the battery may give a clue as to whether it is a replacement or not.

When you bought this car in June 2024 ( when it was 5 years old), did you obtain a copy of its service history ( should be available from your nearest dealer)? Did you buy it from an Audi dealership, and did you purchase an extended warranty from the seller - which would account for your reference to a 7 year warranty on the alternator? Who told you there was a 7 year warranty on the alternator?

Good. Disconnecting the alternator has been recommended as a next stage. What is your logic for thinking it’s the leads if the parasitic drain drops when the alternator is disconnected ?
