  1. Glad to read you have solved the problem.
  2. I see several kits on Amazon for less than £30. Never tried one myself.
  3. Search these forums for the appalling behaviour of mild hybrids. One topic in particular has seven pages of discussion. You are not alone in having such problems.
  4. If you can live without cabin heating for a few months then sort out the cooling system when you change the belt. Note that it is worth changing the water pump at the same time if it is driven by the cambelt. I would be cautious about using a pressure washer on the heater matrix because they can make 100 bar pressure if you seal it onto the fitting. Take Steve's advice on this. A pressure washer will be fine on the rest of the system. Draining the water should be no problem. Open or remove the lowest hose connection on the system, usually the bottom radiator hose. Refit all hoses and refill the system. Be prepared for possible air locks which may need to be cleared by vacuum on the reservoir.
  5. Is the car a mild hybrid or solely wet fuelled?
  6. That's strange. Most of us have the opposite experience and prefer independent over Audi. Nevertheless your problem is solved and you are satisfied.
  7. Glad to read it Willum. Incidently which Great Eastern Flatlands do you inhabit? I can think of a few.
  8. Were the replies of any help to you Saul? Have you solved the problem?
  9. That might explain why the brake pedal can influence the clutch pedal. I'd look to a fault in one or other of the master cylinders, but it would probably be as well to change both of them as they are the same age. I assume you had the slave clinder replaced at the same time as the clutch.
  10. Do the brake and clutch master cylinders have a common reservoir on this model?
  11. I found the same thing with my Ford Granada twenty years ago. The heater fan was powerful enough to use as a hair drier after we had been swimming. Every car since then has had a weaker fan, probably to make manufacturing and running costs cheaper. They are adequate for their intended purposes but not in the same league as the Granada.
  12. The V5 will state heavy oil if it is powered by diesel no matter how many batteries, motors, or alternators are interposed between the primary power source and the wheels. If you can find a 48 volt battery it would confirm a mild hybrid. I believe the starter/alternator is quite large which would be another confirmation.
  13. Philip. See this: https://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/topic/30469-anyone-up-for-saving-my-v6-petrol-avant-from-the-breakers/
  14. I fully agree with Steve. Nobody in their right minds would value a car without seeing it and driving it. Even then there is no altering the fact it is 29 years old, has a large engine, and limited availability of new parts, factors which will reduce its appeal to buyers.
  15. Don't bother. Take the car back, get a refund, and let the dealer sort it out.
  16. My bet is the DPF cooler leaking. It's a common problem and is often not detected by a pressure test. If so, there is a chance the DPF is also in need of cleaning or replacement. If bought in the last month from a dealer I suggest you return it because the repair will be expensive.
  17. I wish you luck in your endeavour. It's always better to treat the illness not the symptoms as others have tried to do.
  18. Ah, you had not mentioned it is a mild hybrid. In that case all bets are off because there is a lot of other electrickery to be dealt with that I am not competent to advise on. Look at other parts of the forum to see how notorious mild hybrids are.
  19. Well that eliminates coding, which is an unknown factor to many owners. The mention of the "faults" changing when a door is opened makes me wonder if the the wires between door and frame are damaged inside the rubber bellows. It was a common problem on earlier models, though I don't recall reports of it on cars as young as yours.
  20. It may still be a battery problem if you did not code it battery to the car. Did you? See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFK0JPs6aO0
  21. Thanks Nathan. I have amended your profile accordingly. It helps to know your approximate location so members can offer relevant information specific to where you are.
  22. What are we to make of the opinion of an anonymous unquoted "guy on Youtube"? If you feel the car is not right, and I'd agree it does not, you should get it inspected. The problem could be suspension, brakes, or something else entirely. Does it have a current MOT?
  23. Strange maybe, nevertheless it's a common fault that can affect locks and windows as well.
  24. You may be better off having the existing rack overhauled to avoid any mismatch from secondhand units. There are many companies specialising in this work to be found by an internet search.
  25. Booing or booming? Either way I hear nothing unusual. Unfortunately that is all too common on audio recordings sent to the forum. You can hear the strange noise because your ears and brain are attuned to it; but the rest of us can not. Unless you can make a better recording with less background noise you will need to rely on words to describe it.
