You're welcome :) You'd be surprised on how many people have reported issues after the recall. But not all customers have egr or dpf failures some are just reporting lower mpg etc. I did have some figures from a news article that I posted on here. I'll have to look to see where I posted it. Either way I can't see the issue just going away. But you are right in saying that the individual dealer is not at fault as they are just having to clean up Audis dirty work with what Audi provides for them.

Hi Chris, I have this issue on my 2002 a6. I have the symphony radio with built in 6 CD changer. I have found the screen starts to fail.due to age and is not connected to the low voltage. I have found that vibration can set it off, even vibrations from the speakers! On the same token I've found if I touch the screen whilst it is red and unreadable it resets it. However I appreciate this isn't a long term solution. Think.ill have to replace the radio eventually but I know the symphony radio is £400 from audi! Sorry I can't help more. Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum Jonathan, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) My best advice would be to keep an eye out for a s3 being broken for spares and acquiring the seats that way and obviously keep checking ebay. Audi will definitely want to charge you a fortune, and alot of it will be for labour. Sorry I can't help more. Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum Ali, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) You've gone for one of the better specs :) but have to agree heated seats and xenons are rare. Key thing is check service history, ideally this should be full. If the car has had any oil consumption issues there should be proof in the service history of any work carried out. With regard to the s tronic gearbox, make sure the gear changes are smooth both in auto and manual modes and free of an judders as any issues can be expensive to fix. Also make sure all electronic items work as some of these can be expensive to fix. This also goes for the air con as compressors etc can be very expensive. My order advice would be for you to ask the seller if you can get an independent inspection carried out. Companies such as the AA and RAC offer this service. If the seller is reluctant or refuses then you have to wonder what they or the car has to hide. I've found this YouTube video which maybe useful :) Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

Hi Cameron, fitting Audi front fogs should be easy enough to do. And should be done by an auto electrician. Have you got a pic of the front of the car so we can see what bumper you have. Also can we have a pic of the dash, predominantly the right hand side near the steering wheel. This is where the fog light switch would be fitted. Cheers Steve

I believe that watchdog had been investing vag over car issues which VAG claim are not connected. Also the reason why our government hasn't got involved is because despite the cheat device being fitted the diesel vag cars still.meet the emission requirements in Europe. The US are more strict on emissions and hence why US owners are getting more compensation etc. VAG have only done the recall in europe as good will for there dishonesty. Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum Ben, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Obviously check the service history to see what it's previously had done. This is important for the cambelt and water pump. Make sure all electronic items work as some of them can be expensive to fix. This also goes for the aircon as it can cost around £1000 yo fix broken compressors etc. The rusty front wings are a common issue on vag cars of this era and you'll need new wings unfortunately. I have to agree, it sounds like an engine issue. Did the garage say exactly where the fueling issue was? The only problem with fitting an egr blanking plate is that you may fail the MOT. As of May the MOT will be making sure DPFs and EGRs work correctly as well as engine management lights must not be on. Cheers Steve

Glad I could help :) Well I worked in.a volkswagen service department and we would advise customers thar the engine needs to get up to a good temperature. The best place to do that is on a motorway or duel carriageway. Regardless of the dpf or not it's never good for an engine not to get up to motorway speeds. Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum Matt, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) The short answer is that Its normal. Your a6 is doing a dpf regeneration which basically means it's burning the soot (particulates) off the dpf. In order for the regeneration to take place the fans have to be on to cool the engine. A warning light would come on the dash to let you know if the dpf was clogging up with soot which wasn't being burnt off. As long as the car is getting a good motorway run once a week then you'll be fine. You say your journey to work takes 10mins. What kind of roads are you driving on? Cheers Steve

You're welcome :) Id definitely get it looked at by a body shop. Have you also inspected the rear wash pipe and jets? I can't fully remember where the jet is on the 8v but obviously the pipes can come loose and cause water to enter the car. Cheers Steve
