  3. Hi Tim Nice to hear from you and no problem at all about chatting about your impending purchase of a new S5. These are my honest thoughts about the B10 S5 Avant. A bit long winded ....but that's me I'm afraid ! Am I thrilled with it ? Yes I am with just a few caveats. Coming out of big limo cruisers for the last 20 years.....2 VW Phaetons, 1 Audi A8 and 2 Q8's , to decide on a completely different type of car at my age ( 78 years ) was a big leap. However, I did alot of research and a fair amount of test drives of alternate cars. Including another Q8 , a Lexus NX, an Audi SQ5 and a BMW 550e. And I came down to the Audi S5. Reasons are that was within my price range, size , performance, styling, build quality and the fact that its an Audi ! I specced it as a Black Edition with a few extras. Mythos black , S technology pack which gives you a Heads Up Display, uprated sound system and passenger MMI, red brake calipers ( a must ! ) and adaptive dampers. I ordered the car from Audi Bury st.Edmunds in January and it came into the U.K. in April. About the spec. I woud throroughly recommend the HUD. Not had it in any car before and it's superb. The passenger MMI is useful, We travel to Deutschalnd alot in the car and my Missus is my Navigator and she loves it. And I thought the adaptive dampers would help the drive comfort of the car as we were coming out of a Q8 with air suspension. I wasn't convinced by the panoramic sunroof or the alternate red leather interior. About the infotainment system and the mmi and safety systems. I am no techy and it has taken some hours sat in the car in my drive to learn and experiment. However Tim, if I can get on top of it, I am sure you can ! And despite some very minor glitches it's all useful and very impressive. So, to sum up. I think it's a handsome car. It drives well. The power delivery is impressive. It's well planted with the Quattro system and it's well put together with no squeaks or rattles. I am well pleased and I would highly recommend it. Just one thing . The list price of mine was something like £74,000. Do not pay anything like that as there are many discounts to be had , especially if you take out a PCP. If you are still keen , please get in touch with Polly Goddard, the Group Fleet Sales Manager of the Marriott Motor Group. She is a lovely lady who really knows her stuff and is a delight to deal with. I purchesed both my Q8's from her as well. She will really do a good deal for you. I hope this helps Tim as it's an awful lot of money to spend isnt it so you have to be sure. Anything else, just ask. Frank
  4. Yes, I think you're right. I've seen mention of lower rear arms/bushes being prone due to the loading the receive, but without something like the ChassisEAR it's hard to know which arm/bush is the issue, and if some are ageing, likelihood is that they all are, and so while a chunk of cash, it's all making me think a complete front end refresh might be the best option to cure not only this creaking, but 'creaking to come'. It would be maddening to sort 'this creaking' out, just to have a repeat on different arms/bushing in a number of months time. My hope was to get a feeling form other A5 owners of what they had experienced and found to work/not work as a guide, i.e. sort 'this' and you'll be good, or 'Doing the odd arm' e.g. lower rear, will only cure that before others start. I can't be the only one to experience this ... or so I thought. Have asked Meyle about front end kits based on your helpful advice. Thanks for that 🙂

thanks Spartacus I’ll look into it
  7. Weybridge Vehicle Consultants in Surrey. Bought my current Audi from them. They ship cars all over the UK. They also do servicing on site. Can’t fault them.
  8. Hi all, can anyone tell me how to code Lithuanian Injectors to a UK car. Stupidly it seems, I bought a complete fuel system fromLithuania. When trying to code using the 7 digit code from the injector VCDS tells me it the wrong country code and I know have FFFFFFF. Is there a possible workaround. I jad just replaced the HP fuel pump. Easy enough but a lot of work as im sure many of you are aware. Any advice even telling me ive wasted £900 buying the complete fuel system. Thanks in advance
  9. You'll not get a reply Mandhir. The vendor has left the forum.
  10. Great, I’ll sort my travel times etc & let you know once the canoe club responds. Thanks Steve.
  11. What about Car Window Regulators for parts? For the Audi A4 they are like £28. A5 is nearer £70 to £90 dependent on vehicle model. https://carwindowregs.co.uk/audi/

  14. Maybe but the Audi tech man said most times this resolves the issues without any further issues so fingers crossed.
  15. I think it will be on a sticker in your handbook pack which gives the car spec ?
  16. Thanks so much, Gareth. In the end I rang the garage and he thinks he can do it on Monday morning. So very different from the days when you just undid the terminals and replaced the battery.
  17. I fitted the audi factory reverse camera complete with all cabling myself (from audi dealer spares dept) and the only tricky part was getting the cabling through the hatch rubber pipe. Obd11 can sort out the coding. Cost me £300. Front sensors look a lot more complex and I did not try that. Good luck with finding a decent installer.
  18. That may mean that the body has twisted so the problem may be greater than just the door closure. I suggest you get the car onto an alignment jig to check it first. It would be a shame to get the door closing properly only to find the car crabs or wanders along the road, or that the tyres are scrubbed to shreds.
  19. I had an Island Green 1.4tdi, barely run in at 210,000 miles, 60mpg, sailed through MoT! All standard so don't fix which isn't broken. A fuel pump leak & lack of spares meant it had to go to WOMAUTOMOTIVE in Stoke-on-Trent who had a selection of donor cars. Our "Dinky Toy" is now back on the road with a new owner. My good lady wishes we still had the A2.

  21. Wondering if anyone could help, my all road A6 C5 , when I drive it and rex past 2000rpm the abs light comes on with the esp and suspension level control light, if I turn car off and restart the light go out, if I keep under 2000 rpm no lifts come on, I have logged with vcds, and only fault is brake pressure implausible, when I do live reading it fluctuates between 0 to 33, when I put foot on brake the pressure goes up as it should, I have changed the abs unit and brake light switch. Is there another module or something I missed

  23. No further with Audi they offered no solution. I am just muddling through making sure that the car says charge immediately and take it from there, before I go to bed check to turn off any timers !!!
  24. Try a variation of that technique: press and hold the up/down switch until the glass has stopped moving but continue to hold the switch for another ten seconds.
  25. Hi, I have recently brought an Audi q7 2013, turns out the rear diff needs replacing already, can anyone tell me how the rear drive shafts connect to the diff please ? Mine is not the type with the bolts, that's all I can seem to find when looking online for Info on it ,is it a circlip or something like that? Thanks
  26. I really am beginning to think this is a wind up or do you not know anything or have learned nothing from your previous ownership of any car, buy an electric bike its safer.
  27. Hey Bob That's a good point about the software being slow to boot up. Not thought of that as the occasional yellow flash ups that I have experienced barely last milliseconds before they disappear. Thankyou for that.
