  2. Haha, yeah I think if it was my car I would do similar, she doesn't seem overly bothered but the only trouble is I have to drive it a couple of times a week and it amazes me how 'unpremium' it feels compared to other stuff. Some people must have different tolerances to noise, a bit like some people were very accepting of the terrible Audi suspensions of old. I will get her to ask the friendly local service team what they think when she takes it in next and I will change tyre brand but I suspect the issue is not specific to this car. Thanks
  3. It might need a diagnostic check with a more sophisticated diagnostic system, no disrespect to your code reader. Erratic idle as you've rightly suggested could be the maf sensor but also the lambda sensor, cam position sensor, crank sensor, injector or injector seal etc.
  4. Thought I'd share the reset buttons and procedures for different models.
  5. Glad it's working again 🙂 keep us posted on developments.
  6. Looks great! Keep us posted on how you get on with other mods.

    Imported A1

Hi all!!! New here and first time Audi owner. I recently brought an imported A1 2014 plate, firstly I love it! but i've been having a few teething issues with the DVLA and the V5 etc. So as I said it's a A1 ,2014 plate, TFSI, automatic, the long book has finally been submitted and i've already noticed an issue with how many doors it has been registered as having, thats fine, I can sort that. But i've got no idea if its had the correct emissions recorded. Im not sure how I go about making sure it has the right info recorded or what it should have recorded as I have limited paperwork for it as the dealer said he sent it all off the DVLA for the car to be registered. It's cost me £231 to tax for 12 months, does that sound right for those with similar vehicle? I ask this not only to make sure everything has been recorded correctly but also so i'm paying the right amount for my residents permit as this is based on emissions and if its been recorded as a higher band then not only am i paying the wrong tax but the wrong bracket for my residents permit too. It's a whole saga. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks all!
  8. You definitely need an auto electrician or Audi independent specialist.
  9. Thanks so much for the update Andy, glad you got sorted 🙂
  10. If cliffs idea doesn't work you can get the adblue system mapped out.
  11. Ayoop, it's that bloke again. As per the title, my Allroad has decided that I didn't have enough street cred and has helpfully decided I would look SO much cooler driving a (very much!) lowered car. I had noticed that in the past couple of mornings, she looked a tiny tad lower on the o/s/r but came up just fine after the (mandatory in my view, with 223000 miles)1 minute warmup prior to moving off. She was fine yesterday but today I pulled off the drive and as I hit the second speed bump in the village at about 15mph she felt suddenly quite hard at the front. So I took things easily until the third speedbumpwhen I realised the suspension was now rock solid. Turned round and parked up. Wow, the front is lower than a 1970s Citroën CX with knackered spheres, but the back end is just slightly down.....so at this age am I looking at a) new front struts, b) a new pump or c) wow how lucky is me, it's just an air supply line popped out. Your thoughts would be most welcome at this juncture, thanks in advance. Ps, she had been sitting for a little over 3 months till the end of April with a non functioning wiper mechanism and a detached bonnet release cable (shudder!) but that's now sorted (shudder again!).
  12. Fantastic work 👍 which Porsche calipers have you fitted and did they bolt straight up? Or did you have to change the hubs?
  13. Hi, can anyone tell me if I am missing something here. Small pipe coming from under front air intake not connected to anything else.

  15. Thanks Gareth, will do. Always had a spare of some sort, doesn't feel right without .
  16. I mean it’s just a question . Always thought Castro and shell is what Audi use anyway . Buying 5 litres seems quite cost effective. I haven’t bought it yet I was asking if this one is shortest . Anyway thanks for your input !
  17. Assume these are heater water jets? At £30 each or so, it is what it is. EBay, then you’ve no idea, possibly cheap Chinese made and boxed as authentic. Link here, there’s a left and right part number. https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/audi/RDW/AQ5/751/9/955/955010
  18. The car needs to be scanned with VCDS. The fact the fault is intermittent will still register the error, and time it happens. Given it’s the gearbox, then act sooner rather than later to have it checked. This gearbox needs an oil and filter service every 38k miles.

  20. Hello everyone, I thought I’ll share something here with people that might experience same problem as I did. Recently I’ve got a message on my MMI saying I have to enter my user login details again for some reason and I was not been able to do that. Every time I was putting in my email address and password, a message would come, saying: You could not be logged in at this moment, try again later. Or something like that. I’ve tried everything, log out from My Audi app, log back in, clear catch on my storage for Audi app, delete the Audi app, add new user, remove user key, literally everything I thought would help. Nothing worked, and I was driving my car under guest user for a while until today when I had enough of it and sat down again and started from the beginning, determined to crack this issue and I succeeded. What I did was: 1. Delete the app on the IPhone. 2. Reinstall the app back on the phone. 3. Reset the password via forgot my password after you type in your username. 4.. Remove the vehicle on My Audi app and add the vehicle back in, remember you need the vehicle identification code to do this. follow the steps from the app to add your car. 5.Factory reset your MMI or reboot to normal mode, you know, two fingers on RH on top of the screen. 6. When reset has been successful, log in with select user, or add new user, login in using your username and the password which you have reset earlier. This is what I did and it helped me to login and my Audi app is working normal too. I hope this will help other people with the same issue I had. all the best

  21. Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. Yes, having got this far it is really irking my friend that the change in his health and therefore his retirement plans is causing him to have to sell this vehicle in the near future. He hasn't done the cambelt/waterpump as yet because they are still well within mileage from the last time and he had the belts inspected and was told they were in good health. Playing Devil's advocate I pointed out they were out of time even though low (relative) mileage so he'll need to look at those jobs shortly. Biggest problem at the moment is this flattening of the battery.
  22. Hi Chris, have you tried it with the canvas good and wet? That might give it enough "give" to do what you need to do. I'm a big fan of fixing things myself whenever possible so good luck to you mate.
  23. I HATE electrical faults, they never seem straightforward to fix, unlike mechanical faults which can usually be sorted out with a bit of knowledge, common sense, and a decent pair of hands. Do you know anyone with a good VAG scanner mate or a decent mobile auto electrician locally? If not it's sounding like a trip to an Audi dealer if you can get the car there. Good luck.
  24. After using VCDS to remove the telephone from the list of installed components, the battery meter is now showing 100% in the morning, before it would range from 10 to 50%. I know it's unreliable, but it is a change. I rebuilt the mmi mechanism yesterday with the new bronze gears, what a struggle that was, so I'm going to try to fit it to my car today, I have no idea how my current screen is attached to the car, it looks like it's glued in. One thing I noticed is my alarm doesn't chirp when I lock the car, yet the alarm has gone off a few times when the battery is low. Can that be coded out with vcds? I should check the alarm batteries.
  25. My MMI screen is blank, I have had the fuses checked and the cable is delivering power, so it would appear I need to replace the screen, I have found the part number (4G2.919.601.T or J or Q??) but these parts seem to be for the regular A6. Does anybody know if the screen from a regular A6 is compatable with the Allroad model as Allroad has the air suspension adjustment screen?? Any help gratefully received. Thanks
  26. I have a 2008 Audi TT 2.0 FSI Base Model Coupe and I want to upgrade my turbocharger to a K04 F23T Turbocharger. Can someone please tell me ALL the additional parts I will need, if a software update is needed and any other information that would be helpful? If anyone has done this...can you please share your experience. Thanks!!!

  28. Not aware of specific OBD readers that will clear what is a very specific fault. VCDS will see it and you can clear the DTC. Side note, how old is the battery? These cars are sensitive to battery degradation, and wouldn’t put it past Audi not to have checked. A cheap multimeter is handy. Get AGM and code it to the car if it’s in any way suspect. For VCDS, you can get a 3-VIN package from Gendan for £222. Personally, get one with a case. What does that get you? Access to Rosstech software updates for life, update to OBD dongle on occasion. You just need a cheap laptop to run it on. Worth its weight in gold. https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23NC.html
  29. The only thing I have had similar was that the cooling system was blocked on a 2017 passat, it ended up being the silika bag in the coolant bottle had burst, it blocked the matrix and the cooling system.
