Saying it as I see it Glyn, I feel like the vet trying to diagnose what is wrong with the dog. We really do strive to be helpful, and unlike solicitors, we don’t charge by the word - we don’t charge at all, so how about sitting down for 15 mins and compiling a bit of a story about the problem-? Regards, Gareth.

Does that mean it uses a reservoir full of coolant in 2 to 2.5 K miles?

Electronic oil level sensors have reputation for unreliability, so it's likely you need to fit a new one. In the meantime refer to the physical dip stick if you have one.

Hi and thanks for allowing me to join. i have returned to the Audi fold after a few years away throwing my money at JLR products 😭😡🤬😭. I have previously owned the following Audis :- 2004 A3 3.2ltr V6 - brutal thing to drive and went for the S3. 2009 S3 in RS Blue - theft magnet, as I lived in London at the time. 5 attempts to break knto our house to get the keys, so I sold it back to Audi. Then finally a beautiful midnight blue 2007 A4 Avant 2.7 ltr Diesel FWD, which destroyed its gearbox at 10mph 🤬 So I have just bought a 2012 A4 B8 Black Edition saloon FWD with manual gearbox, and I have to say it has teally surprised me - nippy, nimble, fun to drive, and at £35 a year Tax, and 50+mpg, its a winner! slightly disappointed that Bluetooth for playing music and satnav aren’t fitted, but the car itself is in amazing condition. Not so sure the 35 profile tyres will like the state of our roads, so I will have to tread carefully.

I have had multiple issues with this Avant. I have Emmisions light/MIL in orange and can hear water sloshing/running behind the dash audi Multimedia centre. Strange noise whining when driving worse as you go faster.... Symptoms of temp gauge on car reads 90°, temp on my OBDII scanner states its 100° fans are working, coolant has been changed m, burped etc, no external leaks, no evidence of coolant going down. It's now been to 4 garages..paid for Disagnostics x4, as a women...all mechanics saying different things, they have said its fuel, new petrol cap, x 4 new coil packs, spark plugs, oil and filter, PCV, It's had new fuel rail, new PCV separator in 2021, spark plugs 12 months ago. Serviced.. I've changed MAP, Temp new sensors..I've reset the TPS... Oil cap is sucking on when engine starts which suggests PCV again ?? I have noticed oil stains down the back of the engine from cam cover Any ideas? Water pump? Thermostat? Main oil seal...intake leak?

So, I picked up the convertible this morning — a total bill of £420. Driving very well indeed. I've asked Norwich Audi to quote for replacing the camshaft — along with a new cam belt (it had a cam belt done when the cam was fitted, but I'm not a fan of re-tensioning important belts). I'm away on holiday for the first couple of weeks of September, so I'm going to leave it with them for that time to get the job done. Running an old Audi sometimes feels like being in a bad relationship — it's cost can be staggering — but I love the car… 😆 I'll add to this thread when I get the car back in mid-September. Mike 🙂

Hello. Thanks for looking in. So I have a 2008 A3 E 104 TDI. As mentioned, it is having a problem with intermittent throttle loss. Almost feels like it's braking or dropping gear. The odb shows no error codes, no engine warning light. It doesn't make any unusual noises. Runs great for a while, 4 miles or so, then drags. I've noticed on hills the accelerator dies altogether until released, then ok for a second, then dies again. Had it at the mechanics who replaced the butterfly valve, but it has not fixed the problem. It runs great, before it doesn't. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, my A3 has developed a parasite loss on S131 circuit, which sounds like a relay clicking open & closed under the centre console, around the hand brake or auto shift lever. Can anyone offer advice??

Yes mate, I’m going to run the ori file in the morning and see if it solves the MAF but I can’t understand how the map would alter the MAF as it’s the first sensor along the chain

The sensors come in a matt black plastic. I actually thing that sensor is painted. I could be wrong, but there looks like a corrosion on the surface. Check with Audi, I think it’s called platinum gray and finished in satin matt. Removing the wheel arch isn’t too big a deal. You need to twist the old sensor out and unhook the wiring anyway, so even tight access isn’t likely to work.

Gave mine a bit of a clean up so thought I'd share a pic of how she's looking after a year in my hands. Think I've finished all the modifying and retrofitting for now so just enjoying the driving.

help Shaking at idle (Sometimes Stalls) - Misfire all cylinders
spartacus 68 replied to SuperFastYo's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
When replacing injectors (use a little ceramic grease on the body of the injector) and check if ‘o’ ring if one fitted needs replaced, plus the seating or sealing washer is new, use new stretch bolts and torque to specification, then tighten union nuts to fuel rail. If a new injector it needs coded to the car. -
2017 car could be anything, and sounds suspension related.

Your local Audi dealer knows how to charge, I’ll say that. Some of those prices are frankly ridiculous. Most of it is wear and tear. The thing to remember is the S4 is a performance car and owning one will come with increased costs. There will be a reason the previous owner had a year, and to coin a phrase ‘wants to get out of Dodge!’ Go into it with your eyes open, or increase your budget and look for something a little younger with full service history. A trusted independent garage that are VAG knowledgeable should be able to reduce some of those costs on labour.
