  1. Past hour
  2. the battery was changed to a new one, then the old battery was placed back into the car since it was tested and working completely fine, and the added fact that the car couldnt jump start- just so complicated! i keep getting told its the starter motor but im a little bit suspicious since its been changed to a new one and the narrative with that is that new starter motors can be faulty/ not the correct one. also i was driving it around for weeks before this completely fine almost everyday then suddenly all these issues 馃槥
  3. You're welcome, happy to help. If the car has sat along time it might be worth considering the battery being at fault. Especially if it's over 5 years old. You could get this tested to see if it's working properly.
  4. From looking online I'd suspect more the pipe first.
  5. I'd recommend looking at getting the current battery tested, especially if it's over 5 years old. Failing batteries can often throw up electrical gremlins or warning lights. Another common cause of end warning lights is either the brake lights not working or brake light switch. Also worth checking all fuses relating to the braking system just to be sure.

  7. Good evening everyone..My 2010 A3 had decided to throw some codes up and I'm struggling to get it solved.. I have changed the glowplug control module and iv still got the code and also now start stop and Ebs warning light on the dash board. May ask my new found friends out here what else I can do or need to buy so I get this put to bed.. Thanks is advance Jaime
  8. unfortunately i was a bit stupid and bought it from a private seller :(- a family friend but there have been no issues with the car when the previous owner drove it. the only other thing i can think of is it was parked at the dads workplace for a good few months and not switched on/ used, i had my own theory of corroded cables? the cars has been to 2 seperate mechanics and had diagnostic tests and they both came to the same conclusion the 'clicking' noise- the best way i can describe it when i put the key in and the car wont even crank is a starter motor issue. new mechanic is going to put in a working starter motor and test it in that way. the imobiliser has not been mentioned at all. and thank you so much, really really appreciative for the response its been a month of this!
  9. If this has been bought from a dealer in the last 30 days then it should be the dealers responsibility to fix free of charge. Alternatively, have you had a diagnostic test to see if any fault codes flag up? Could it be an issue with the cars imobiliser?
  10. Or one or the other
  11. Unsure tbf been told possibly both
  12. Are you sure it's the reservoir and not the pipe?
  13. I'd recommend getting the tracking checked, as well as having the suspension checked. Predominantly the suspension arms as these could be affecting the tyre wear.
  14. Hi guys, new driver here and i am so stuck. I bought an audi a1 2014. Recently, the car has had intermittent starting issues and makes a 'clicking' noise when trying to switch it on. It will start sometimes and other times it wont, its completely random. I took it to a garage, he tested the battery, battery was fine (also may i add, i had my cousin try to jump start the car when it wouldnt switch on and the car wouldnt start. So i was told its not a battery issue or it would have jump started) -changed the starter motor to a new one -chnaged the ignition switch -cables have been checked and no issues have been detected, i've been told -power is reaching the starter motor a different mechanic has told me it is still potential issues with the starter motor since new ones can have issues and you need a specifc one? Advice would be massively appreciated! I dont have the best car knowledge and taking it to multiple mechanics is getting a little expensive! thank you so so much in advance.
  15. Today
  16. I've recently bought a 2006 A4. I have noticed that there is a groove wearing on the inside if both front tyres. The car has 18 inch wheels fitted which I suspect are too big. Has anyone fitted 18s and had the same problem
  17. Please do. In the meantime I shall release your other query that I hid pending a reply here.
  18. Hi, I鈥檝e already had it on vcds once to check the turbo but I think im gona try get it put on again for the building blocks, will post an update when I get one.
  19. Jack, was the above reply of any use to you? I know you have seen it.
  20. Does anyone know how to replace the vacuum reservoir or where abouts it is on the car? 2.0 tdi 2009 140
  21. Having just watched a few videos on the matter I now appreciate the problem of the foam detaching from the lining. The orange foam looks very like the stuff used in upholstery that crumbles and degrades as it ages.
  22. That's more complicated than physically removing it. I suspect you'd see glue stains and no guarantee of success. The foam is attached with a contact adhesive, but its the headlining material that's detached from the foam i suspect. The correct way is to remove the headlining. It's basically a card composite with foam backed headlining glued on. As the glue dries or the card is subject to damp, the headlining material separates. On a 20 year old car, I understand that using these self tapper buttons is a fix, temporary or otherwise.
  23. So are you DIYing it or not?
  24. Fair enough. I wondered at the possibilty of staining. Can't say I like the the use of staples either. They look !Removed! awful.
  25. https://youtu.be/R9zGH9KOUYA?si=k0Fqd_SzBwwTkyPB Hi Cliff This chap appears to be an 'expert' and mentions the glue idea, but warns against the stains it causes.
  26. If the headlinings are normally glued in place as Richard says, I wonder if it is possible to inject glue through the lining at selected spots using a syringe with a wide bore needle. It would need a non staining low viscosity glue and one would have to find the right points at which to inject, but if it works it would save the effort of removing the lining. I have no idea if it would work as I have only just dreamed up the idea. Any opinions Richard?
  27. Pretty sure its a cardboard composite. No need to use a drill. The buttons I've seen use self-tappers and the cloth button clips over.
