  1. Past hour
  2. If this has been bought from a dealer in the last 30 days then it should be the dealers responsibility to fix free of charge. Alternatively, have you had a diagnostic test to see if any fault codes flag up? Could it be an issue with the cars imobiliser?
  3. Or one or the other
  4. Unsure tbf been told possibly both
  5. Are you sure it's the reservoir and not the pipe?
  6. I'd recommend getting the tracking checked, as well as having the suspension checked. Predominantly the suspension arms as these could be affecting the tyre wear.
  7. Hi guys, new driver here and i am so stuck. I bought an audi a1 2014. Recently, the car has had intermittent starting issues and makes a 'clicking' noise when trying to switch it on. It will start sometimes and other times it wont, its completely random. I took it to a garage, he tested the battery, battery was fine (also may i add, i had my cousin try to jump start the car when it wouldnt switch on and the car wouldnt start. So i was told its not a battery issue or it would have jump started) -changed the starter motor to a new one -chnaged the ignition switch -cables have been checked and no issues have been detected, i've been told -power is reaching the starter motor a different mechanic has told me it is still potential issues with the starter motor since new ones can have issues and you need a specifc one? Advice would be massively appreciated! I dont have the best car knowledge and taking it to multiple mechanics is getting a little expensive! thank you so so much in advance.
  8. I've recently bought a 2006 A4. I have noticed that there is a groove wearing on the inside if both front tyres. The car has 18 inch wheels fitted which I suspect are too big. Has anyone fitted 18s and had the same problem
  9. Today
  10. Please do. In the meantime I shall release your other query that I hid pending a reply here.
  11. Hi, I’ve already had it on vcds once to check the turbo but I think im gona try get it put on again for the building blocks, will post an update when I get one.
  12. Jack, was the above reply of any use to you? I know you have seen it.
  13. Does anyone know how to replace the vacuum reservoir or where abouts it is on the car? 2.0 tdi 2009 140
  14. Having just watched a few videos on the matter I now appreciate the problem of the foam detaching from the lining. The orange foam looks very like the stuff used in upholstery that crumbles and degrades as it ages.
  15. That's more complicated than physically removing it. I suspect you'd see glue stains and no guarantee of success. The foam is attached with a contact adhesive, but its the headlining material that's detached from the foam i suspect. The correct way is to remove the headlining. It's basically a card composite with foam backed headlining glued on. As the glue dries or the card is subject to damp, the headlining material separates. On a 20 year old car, I understand that using these self tapper buttons is a fix, temporary or otherwise.
  16. So are you DIYing it or not?
  17. Fair enough. I wondered at the possibilty of staining. Can't say I like the the use of staples either. They look !Removed! awful.
  18. https://youtu.be/R9zGH9KOUYA?si=k0Fqd_SzBwwTkyPB Hi Cliff This chap appears to be an 'expert' and mentions the glue idea, but warns against the stains it causes.
  19. If the headlinings are normally glued in place as Richard says, I wonder if it is possible to inject glue through the lining at selected spots using a syringe with a wide bore needle. It would need a non staining low viscosity glue and one would have to find the right points at which to inject, but if it works it would save the effort of removing the lining. I have no idea if it would work as I have only just dreamed up the idea. Any opinions Richard?
  20. Pretty sure its a cardboard composite. No need to use a drill. The buttons I've seen use self-tappers and the cloth button clips over.
  21. Hi Gareth, the video's I have seen show a self tapping screw being fitted first, this has a base plate which stops the material from twisting around the screw. The material button then fits to the plate.
  22. I don’t know Greg, but I would be surprised if it’s fibreglass and not a composite. Are you going to DIY this button arrangement? If so, I see a potential for the headlining to wrap around the drill, so worth giving some thought to avoiding that. Also recommend a stop on the drill to prevent drilling into the roof! If you are not carefully DIYing it then I would be even more wary of the consequences of the above via. a 3rd party. Regards, Gareth.
  23. Hi, I never bothered when I found it how much of the dash had to come out. I just use the max windscreen button for the few times a year the flap motor gets it wrong, always seems to be on the warmest days.
  24. When you remove the glove box, the is a cable connected near the footwell light, has 5 wires I think, this connects the footwell, glovebox and this
  25. What switch is this, and where about is it please??
  26. Fantastic news 😊
  27. Thank you mate ,after a bit more digging and a bit of a disagreement with a guy on VCDS it appears I dont have this module in the car so this I why I could not access it , STG 13 > Coding > Byte 3 > Bit 3 Activate refers too (auto distance regulation) =adaptive cruise control ,as I dont have this on the car I dont need this section so all sorted Cheers Jim
