smoke from engine DPF cracked

Featured Replies

Hi my A6 C7 2012 s line (engine CGLC) DPF has had a slight crack and I had it welded and It seemed to be fine for like 2 days and now the smoke seems to come out of the ring. I have attached a video so you can see it. I do not have a problem with power, MPG, speed, idle no lights on the dash car works fine but slight smoke comes out that's the only problem. did an emissions test and that was fine too. could this be a bigger problem? Do you think the ring needs some sort of seal on it as when it was welded it was not put back together properly? or needs to be welded again? The ring am talking about is what am touching and when I poke it, it does more back and my finger slightly can slide through.

Thanks

Hi it needs rewelding by a specialist as the two parts are very different the DPF  I am guessing is pre formed stainless and the bit at the end is some sort of cast steel /iron which will require a specialist welding to get it back to factory.

Hi thanks for the reply. Is it possible to use exhaust putty and apply it then apply a DPF clamp on top of it?

Hi if the putty gets into the DPF even a small amount it will go into super heat and blow a hole in the DPF core.

Steve.
