Astro25
Hi Guys First post so be gentle... Ive recently bought a 2007 Tdi 170 S line and have noticed sometimes its a little tricky getting into first, but fine if i go second and then into first, so thinking alignment maybe,. Ive read on a google search that there is a linkage on top that wears and can cause this... Is that the most likely as there quite a bit of movement on the stick itself.. If so, any ideas where i can get one, some said to put a short shift on instead as it helps.. Thanks in advance
Steve Q
I'd definitely say a worn linkage.

cliffcoggin
A worn clutch can cause similar gear selection problems. Does the clutch work as it should? Do you get any clutch slip under load?

Do you get any clutch slip under load? Clutch seems fine, not slipping and goes into all the gears quite smoothly. Feels more like it’s hitting the side of a slot, like not quite going in properly if that makes any sense
cliffcoggin
In that case I'd agree it's worn linkage.
