Arsenal2006 Posted Friday at 12:54 AM Posted Friday at 12:54 AM Hi all, I’m looking to take over pre-owned Audi A6 (C8) registered in nov 2020 car in the coming week. I did a PPI (reputable Audi 3rd party workshop) and requested agent service record from current owner. PPI company also suggested on repair cost (shown in Singapore dollar) . See photo 1-8 for PPI report. See photo 9-14 for Audi agent service report. I’m a little bothered that many issues has been flagged out and things has been replaced in a short age the car. Also, in the last 1y3 months the car was driven +/-27,000km (given that I’m living in Singapore, this is considered high mileage). Only comfort is that the car is regularly serviced and maintained by Audi. 1. Have you encountered any of the error codes shown in the PPI report? 2. And is the parts replaced by Audi is a concern/sign of abused car by current and previous owner ? 3. What service and repair cost am I looking at for this car at current mileage (91,000km) and beyond? 4. should I get Audi extended warranty ? Or should I look for 3rd party workshop for warranty? 5. Please enlighten me on wear and tear to look out for? I’m looking to own this car for roughly 3 years Car details: Model: Audi A6 (c8) Registered: Nov 2020 Current mileage: 91,000km Number of previous owners: 2 Under Audi warranty: Yes, expires in 5 months or when 100,000km Last service done: May 2025 by Audi agent Concerns: • DRL is yellow. Believe the led is burnt. Saw couple of post in Reddit and YT. Not sure if it’s foc under agent warranty. • Emergency SOS module known to have other electronic issues. • Oil leak detected. • fault code detected during scan. See photo Feel free to ask me more details of the car if I’ve missed out anything. Many thanks in advance for all your feedback. Cheers!
Steve Q Posted Friday at 09:55 AM Posted Friday at 09:55 AM With the issues I'd walk away, as clearly the current owner is getting shot of it in my opinion
Magnet Posted Friday at 10:45 AM Posted Friday at 10:45 AM Hello Riyss, So much data to read and understand. I don’t know what the regulations are in your country, but here, any vehicle driven on tyres with 1mm of tread (if I’ve read correctly) would be illegal and I would guess - worldwide? - any owner driving on such tyres would not be demonstrating a high regard for their vehicle’s maintenance. Aren’t there any others to choose from? Regards, Gareth.

I have the same fear. It’s because I paid a deposit of 3k before I can take it for ppi. And I can’t get the refund unless car has major accident or engine issue. I’m stucked. I believe he used to drive the car up to north Malaysia frequently as he is a Malaysian. And it’s roughly 600km from Singapore to north Malaysia. I assume he has been driving harshly which causes all these wear and tear so quickly. Is this wear and tear concerning given the age of the vehicle ?
Magnet Posted Sunday at 09:32 AM Posted Sunday at 09:32 AM Hello Riyss, It would seem that this car has had a ‘disrespectful’ owner. If I was in your situation, I would simply walk away and forget it. Aren’t there any other examples to consider?
cliffcoggin Posted Sunday at 10:07 AM Posted Sunday at 10:07 AM If I understand correctly you have paid a $3000 non refundable deposit so you are committed to buying the car. Is that correct? I suggest you assess whether the total purchase cost plus the cost of necessary repairs is worthwhile, or whether you should abandon the deal and lose $3000. Only you can make that decision in the light of local car values.
Magnet Posted Sunday at 10:45 AM Posted Sunday at 10:45 AM Apologies, I wasn’t aware of the deposit paid - £ equivalent? Without looking it up. Non refundable may well alter the advice given.
cliffcoggin Posted Sunday at 11:46 AM Posted Sunday at 11:46 AM It's about £1700 Gareth. A considerable sum to lose if I am understanding Riyss properly. 1
Magnet Posted Sunday at 04:30 PM Posted Sunday at 04:30 PM Who are you buying it from Riyss? Whoever it is, they are trying to sell you a vehicle which is legally unroadworthy. Surely this is sufficient causation for you to have your deposit refunded -?

But I don’t mind walking away to get a better car. But I saw the clause and its states that if I walk away from the deal, then I might need to pay double the deposit. It feels like a scam company to do this kind of agreement On 6/15/2025 at 6:45 PM, Magnet said: Apologies, I wasn’t aware of the deposit paid - £ equivalent? Without looking it up. I’m buying it from a direct owner but there is a middle men, a consignment company, helping out in this deal. The consignment company is the one with a clause stating that if I walk away from the deal, I will need to pay double the deposit amount, also the $3000 is non refundable. anyways, the car is now at Audi service centre to look at the condition of the car and advise on the repair cost. It should be out tomorrow. Do you think i should ask the current owner to pay for the repair cost and I drive out the car or should I negotiate the price down?
cliffcoggin Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago It is worth trying to negotiate with the owner directly, rather than through the middle man, if that is possible and legal in Singapore. You may not get any where, but if other possible buyers have looked at, and rejected, the car on the basis of the repair cost, he may be tempted to compromise. 1
Kev-P Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Seems a very oddball way to purchase a car to me. I would have walked away as soon as they asked for £3K non refundable deposit before you can have it inspected.
