All weather tires

Featured Replies

So I live in the frozen tundra of North Dakota. Snows alot here in the winter. So I want a good all around tire. The SQ5 has 255/40/21 tires. I was the Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires but for some reason they are not recommended for the SQ5. Not sure if its just the speed rating or not. I have run the CC2 and they are a great all around tire.

Yes I am aware. But I kind of figured there were some Americans on here too.

Shame the cross climate 2 aren't recommend as they're supposed to be the best. Why are they not recommended?

I think the other options are

Nokian Remedy WRG5

Continental Allseasoncontact 2

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6

But is it worth you just having a set of winter wheels with tyres as having a tyre that is designed to work in all conditions means it has to make compromises so won't provide the ultimate performance possible when compared with a tyre designed to work as a summer or winter tyre.

I would love to get a second set of wheels to switch out. But unfortunately, every where I have checked does not have wheels in stock for the Audi SQ5 or Q5. So I am stuck looking just for tires. I will look at the Nokians. I have run Nokians in the past and they were GREAT tires. Cheers

Had Michelin Cross Climates before - very good all round tyre. That said, all-weather or hybrid tyres are a compromise. Best solution is to source another set of alloys and get dedicated winter tyres. If you have code on your existing alloys just search local Facebook Marketplace, EBAY, or even get a quote from main dealer. They won't be cheap though if new.

You're welcome, please keep us posted on how you get on.

I'm wondering if there's any winter wheels/wheels for the q7 that might fit. Might be worth a consideration

I am still on the fence with tires. I am swaying towards the CrossClimate2 but they just came out with the CrossClimate3 Sport tires. But I can't find them anywhere.

Well, I finally settled on a tire. I will let everyone know how they are once they are installed and I get thru a winter.

Decided on the new GoodYear Assurance WeatherReady 2 in factory 255/40/21

Total price out the door installed $1274.39 US Dollars

Plus if I use my Good Year credit card I get $180 rebate.

I used Goodyear vector 4 seasons on my previous motor ,here in the UK.  In snow they are brilliant,  in tyre tests they were better than the cross climates 2 in certain sections .  Cross climates 3 sport are not really needed tbh and only come with around 6mm of tread from new.  You don't need to be looning around in the winter , do you ???  Full tyre tests video is on you tube.

Summer tyres are not far in front of some all seasons tyres now on tyre tests .  In the UK , do we really get a summer anyways 😁 .  4 months from 12 ...
