A6 2 litre tdi ultra

Featured Replies

It’s my first time posting

i recently bought a 64 plate 2 litre ultra, I have noticed in the past week or so

when I first start it up, it is a struggle to get either reverse or first gear

once I get it in gear, it seems fine shifting up and down

is this something I should worry about

i should add, it has 148000 miles on the clock

If bought from a dealer in the last 30 days get it back to them asap as they should fix it free of charge.

It may be the reason the previous owner traded it in.  Worse case scenario it's a megatronics unit which is expensive. Is there proof of gearbox oil services? It should have had at least one.

Hi its probably the rear engine mount and the two main engine mounts they dont generally tend to last much more than 100,000, parts are not tragic but the hydro mounts at the front are a bit of a mission, dont know what possessed them to put in two massive oil filled balloons in alloy casings but over my ownership I often questioned the logic of the build, they are not as well made as the C5/6.

Update on the problem…..

took the car back, the salesman was puzzled but booked it in with their maintenance guy

turns out, when they serviced the car they didn’t top up the brake/clutch fluid duly sorted

its running sweet as a nut now

£4 bottle of dot 4, not a new gearbox
